« on: Thursday 27 November 14 15:24 GMT (UK) »
A relative is listed on the 1891 census as residing at house name,   FOX HALL.

Town,   Including Penusha Geinas Aipht Peel Hall and Paen.

Parish   Llangwyfan

County  Denbighshire

Can anyone with local knowledge offer any information on this address.

A Google search gives Foxhole Newydd Henllan.   Peel Hall appears to be in Cheshire Warrington area, owned by the Kenyon family who had/have estates in and around Denbighshire.

Thank you.

The Fox Hall as listed in the 1891 census has properties either side called Waen Wen and Sychtyn.
These are identifiable on old OS maps near Llandyrnog. There is also a Google listing for Peel Hall Llandyrnog at postcode LL16 4HY,and for Fox Hall,Llandyrnog at LL16 4NA.This makes me think that the Fox Hall Henllan may be a different onel(which appears to be an estate name as well).

Roger

I think I've found it now,not far from Plas Llangwyfan under what looks like the Welsh equivalent of "Fox Hole"-"Twll y Llwynog".

Thank you Roger and Rosie, yes i would agree it would seem that Fox Hall at Henllan is an outsider.  I shall try to get hold of an old OS and familiarise myself with the area now that i know what i am looking for.   It looks a pretty bleak countryside from the satellite imagery, but i shall take a trip there next year to see for myself.  I suppose there may even be estate records detailing estate workers, at Denbigh Records and Archives.

Thanks very much for your interest
