Hello JerseyLily  :)

Yes, you confirmed that Albert's father was William John Lock and that Albert was born in St Sampson, Guernsey 1908/09 (from his marriage certificate to Doreen).

The Bertie I have found on the 1911 Jersey census is noted as being born in Vale, Guernsey 1908 (family seem to have been living in St Sampson's though around the time Bertie would have been born, I believe Vale boarders St Sampson?) and seeing as his father's name was William, it's a promising match.

Problem is that there were at least another 2 William Lock's (born Guernsey & England) floating around the Islands around the same time (one particularly suspicious due having children the same names as my father & 2 of his siblings). Lock seems to have been a difficult name to transcribe correctly, especially the L and the K, so not sure if I've located them all.

Would be really great if I could eliminate the other Williams, thought I could do this by Agnes's Father's name being confirmed as William John (plus the added bonus of Catherine's maiden name).

As always, appreciate your help.

Hello again

I'm still not having a lot of luck with one of my main branches, so thought I'd try again, this time back in Jersey, with whom I suspect might be my Great Aunt & Great Great Grandparents, please.

From the 1911 census I've found:

Agnes Lock abt 1909 St Helier Jersey
(Parents: William Lock abt 1874 St Helier, Catherine Lock abt 1872 St Helier)

Agnes' elder brothers were born in Guernsey (William 'Willie' c1900, Frederick 'Freddy' c1902, Thomas c1904 & Albert 'Bertie' c1908) so I'm not sure if William & Catherine married in Jersey or Guernsey.

Especially interested in seeing if Agnes's fathers middle name is John and also what her mothers maiden name was, if possible.

Thank you very much.

Channel Islands Lookup Requests / Re: St Helier Jersey - Thomas Le Breton

Thank you so much, you have again been very helpful and I really appreciate all your help and time.

I was hoping to claim all the Leat's from the Jersey census up until 1891, in my tree but there seems to have been at least one other family there prior to mine arriving.

 :)

Thank you  :)

Charlotte Leat should be the youngest sister of William Henry Leat, (William was the elderly father of the boys you discovered had been sent to orphanages, 1881 census).

Hello again, this time I'm looking for some information if possible please on the Halkett Place Le Breton's, occupation: paper hangers.

The ancestry tree matches aren't helping, the information differs. The information below is just what I have established so far via the census information and online baptism records plus info on Charlotte from my existing tree.

Thomas Le Breton born c1801.
Mary ? born c1801.
Children: Thomas c1828, Mary c1831, Alfred c1838, Albert c1840

Thomas Le Breton c1828 St Helier, Jersey.
Charlotte Leat c1832, Ringwood, Hampshire, England.
Child: Thomas Blackler Le Breton (28 Oct 1856, St Helier, Jersey)

I have followed Thomas (c1828) and his siblings, parents (until they died) on the 1841 through to 1891 census's

I cannot locate Thomas Blackler Le Breton on any of the census. He is not residing with his parents Thomas & Charlotte as expected in 1861, I assume he might have died prior (between Oct 1856-1861). I don't think they had any other children.

In 1871, Thomas is residing back at Halkett Place but Charlotte is missing, Thomas' status is still married, then in 1881, noted as widowed.

Also, I am hoping that Thomas (born c1801) parents were Thomas Le Breton & Elizabeth Mauger ? if so, I think I'm in luck as there seems to be a lot of information available for them.

Thank you.

You are certainly keeping me busy, thank you so much.

I haven't been able to confirm where Solomon disappeared to, I think the trees that I have come across that mentioned Solomon died in Australia hadn't noted that he was ever in the Channel Islands. Solomon's brother & family did immigrate to Australia, I located the passenger lists plus records & burial details but nothing yet to suggest Solomon went there. I have a feeling that it might have been assumed that Solomon went to Australia (instead of Guernsey). Will keep searching.

I have found a Salomon Crocker entry, 1882 Jersey general hospital register and also a possible match for his wife Elizabeth 1891 in St Ouen as a servant, although there is another Elizabeth Crocker born around the same year... but I cannot find their youngest child Lousia after 1871. I might check in Wales, their eldest son went there.

I felt quite sad hearing that George Leat was an orphan, so happy that you found him though. There was a William H Leat (age 7) in 1881 Jersey Industrial School for Boys St Martins Parish, I'm wondering if he may have been George's brother? In 1891 he is noted as a relative of a family in St Helier with the surname of Iselin.

I best get busy, will pop in again soon. Again, a big big thank you.
