Hi Geoff-E, Hugh Hamilton buried 1842 is my 3 x great grandfather, I've no idea who the others are or whether or not they're related.
Thanks for looking though.

Hi Gam Yam thanks for looking for Esther, I've no idea what happened to her, she just seems to disappear. I have a copy of the baptism register for Margaret and Rebecca and also Hugh's burial.
Many thanks for trying.

Yes Mary is another daughter of Hugh & Esther, baptised 24 Sep 1824 at St Cuthbert Carlisle. That would be great if you could have a look in the registers for me.
Many thanks

Hugh & Esther's daughters, Margaret (my 2nd great grandmother) and Rebecca,  were baptised at St Mary's Carlisle on the 12 Feb 1832. Hugh is on the 1841 census living at Wigton not with Esther but Mary. Margaret & Rebecca are also on the census as are 2 other children, Jane & Elizabeth. I don't think these other 2 girls are Hugh's daughters but probably Mary's from a previous marriage as they were born in Belfast Ireland.
Esther must have died between 1832-1841, as there is only one Esther Hamilton in the death indexes which I now know to be the wrong one, she must have died before registration began and would either be in Carlisle or Wigton. Hugh died in Apr 1842 just a month after the birth of his son William. I can find no trace of a marriage between Hugh & Mary.

Thanks Rosie for your reply, unfortunately not the person I was looking for, she would only have been in her 30s.

Hi, could someone look up a burial for me please, Esther Hamilton buried St Andrew's Penrith 9 Sep 1837. I'm looking for age and perhaps whether the register mentions if she was the wife of Hugh Hamilton. The transcription on Family Search only gives name and burial date.
Thanks

Thanks John, I had hoped, as he was an infant, that parents names would be given but it's not to be.
Thanks for looking

I've just found the article on Horden St Mary cemetery which was in The Sunderland Echo. There is a 49 page copy of the gravestone survey at Horden Library. If you contact them I'm sure they will be able to help.

Hi Jane, my great grandparents are buried at St Mary's cemetery Horden and there is a list of headstone inscriptions. I think I contacted the local council and they emailed the page containing my G Grandparents inscription. It's a few years since I obtained the info but I'm fairly sure it was from the council.
