That would explain why I'm having trouble finding him on censuses...

James W. Pilgrim married Ann Lilley in 1846 in Southwark. He gives his father as Henry Joseph Pilgrim, plasterer, so he is presumably George's older brother (James was born c.1817).

One of the witnesses to his marriage was a Sophia Pilgrim.

Thank you 😊

Doesn't it say Henry Joseph Pilgrim? Where are you reading George Henry?

Queenie  :)

George's marriage certificate states that he was 22 (born c.1824) and his father was Henry Joseph Pilgrim, bricklayer.

The witnesses were James W. Pilgram and Ann Pilgrim (x).

Queenie  :)

Thank you and apologies ... See above post 😔

Surrey / George Pilgrim born c1830 Bermondsey according to 1861 census

I can't find him anywhere except the 1861 census where his birth is transcribed as 1830 B??? When you look at the actual record, it says Bermondsey.
He's living with his wife Mary Ann, transcribed as Henry! Also children, Ann, George, Henry, Charles, Alfred. They also had children Edward and Mary Sophia after this. Mary Ann is a widow in 1871 census, so George must have died between Mary Sophia's conception 1862/3.
I have George and Mary Ann's marriage in Southwark 1846. Also her parents Thomas Tackley and Mary from the marriage and her baptism in 1826 in Bermondsey.

Can anyone take me back further with George Pilgrim and Thomas and Mary Tackley please as I'm at a bit of a dead end.

Thank you 🤞

That does sound probable. Thank you.
Pain about the not born in county and about James being decreased at the marriage of Frances 🙄
