Laois (Queens) / Re: Ballybrophy: Rudd and Johnston/Johnson families
« on: Saturday 07 November 20 03:51 GMT (UK)  »
Graeme sorry I have only just seen your message and tried to inbox you but it states your inbox is full!  Hopefully you can send me a message as I'd love to know more about Annie :)

I realise that your query about Elizabeth Eleanor Rudd. Was 10 years ago, but I have been researching my great-grandmother  Annie Jane Leitch (born Rudd)   1864 - 1949 who died in Greenlane Auckland.  They were sisters. Parents were  Robert John Rudd ( born    In 1824 or possibly 1830) and Margaret Rudd ( born Johnston ). There were 9 children.

Elizabeth Eleanor ( born in 1862 in Ballybrophy) died on 3 July 1947 in  Papatoetoe and is buried in Hamilton  West Cemetery with her husband Richard Gee  of Paparata . They married in 1880 and had 3 children ... Joseph Edward Gee and 2 others.

There are some conflicting dates for Robert Rudd and Margaret Johnston bout one gives them asmarried  in 1836 at Birr. His father was John Rudd and Margarets father was John Johnston(e?).
Maybe variant spellings  and lots of Roberts and Johns and  Williams.

There were other Rudds who settled around Paparata in the 1870s and 1880s  ...Joseph and William.
William came with his wife Fanny and 2 children  on the Queen of Nations  in july 1874.

You may know all this but it's new to me! I live in West  Auckland .

Regards,    Graeme

His fathers name was

if you search   lesleysfamilytree.co.nz/mcpike.html  it should come up,,, a great history of McPikes..

Unfortnately doesn't appear to be the same family.  Mary Ann was proud that she was from Londonderry and its mentioned in two books written in the area she settled in in New Zealand and she also had a very strong Irish accent.

The info I think we both have stands as per the very first messages to this thread.  The family is a bit of a mystery.  Mary Ann Pike or McPike as far as I know went to Australia alone, no other family members, and she came to NZ without any family members.  She named nearly all her sons middle names Hastings after her Mother's maiden name.  Have never found any of those families as per the info at the beginning of this thread  :(

Thank you  :)

I was just browsing and came across this thread.

Stella hasn't been on rootschat for almost a year, and it seems like she was having trouble finding her way around the forum.

Why not send her a personal message in case she can't find her way back to this thread? Just click on her name to do this.

Good luck!  :)

Kind regards

I was hoping someone might be able to tell me who her parents may have been.  I can't find her marriage to John Quinton anywhere in Ireland, they would have married circa 1840-1848.  Thanking you in advance :)  John came from County Tyrone in Mullahinch born circa 1806.
