Hi Cathy. Thanks for your reply. Is that Richmond Rd, Lancing in 1939? Best wishes Brigcs

Sussex Lookup Requests / Mills family - Kelly’s Directory of Brighton
« on: Sunday 03 March 19 14:02 GMT (UK)  »
Good afternoon

Would anybody be able to check out Kelly’s for me for 1904 and 1937 for a Mills with an unknown Christian name? In 1904 I am specifically looking for one that lived perhaps near Richmond Road. In 1937 I am hunting for one living in Lancing. I am sorry to be so vague. My DNA result has thrown up a total mystery so this is a possible long shot.

Best wishes and many thanks.

Fortune is a very unusual name. Had she been married before? Do you have the Brider line further back than them? Strangely enough I studied in Portsmouth and passed St. Mary’s regularly.

Best wishes

Hi Tabbicat.

On this wet Sat. I am sat playing with family history. I have just noticed that I didn’t see the info that you sent me on my Neville family back last summer. Thank you for your reply. I am pretty sure that’s the marriage I want.

Best wishes Brigitte

Thank you Hanes Teulu. Every little nugget adds to the story.

The article is very interesting.

Thank you. Yes that’s him. The case involved a yound friend who drowned. It sounded like boys and high jinks. Ironically Uriah drowned in Barry in 1983.

It was just the word “Ignored” that I wondered about.

Many thanks.

Norfolk / FROST Manslaughter case July 1852 Wisbech

I have found details in the British Newspaper Archive of a manslaughter case against Uriah and Jeremiah FROST in July 1852. I know that they were both charged and the Bill was Ignored.
Can anyone tell me if Ignored means dropped?

Many thanks

Odd.

My Grandmother Winifred Kate Creighton was a servant to my knowledge. The Certificate also says that her father Robert George Charles Creighton was deceased whereas I have his death in 1959.
I believe that Winifred's parents, Robert and Amy Maud Creighton were divorced or there had at least been a Court case as he abused the children. I have searched but never found any record of the court case.

Best wishes

Sussex / Brighton Registry Office 1924

Good morning.

I have just received my Grandparent's Marriage Certificate. They married at Brighton Registry Office in March 1924. Where was the Registry Office back in the 1920's?

I am a bit puzzled as although she was 18 my Grandmother doesn't have a profession. Her daughter was born about 5 weeks later. Could that perhaps be why? She was living at 241 Preston Drove so I feel she must have been a servant?

Many thank for any thoughts.
