Thank you all for your replies. As yet i have not found a connection with the name Lamont in the family tree but i have only just discovered this new branch of the family so hopefully something might turn up.
If i could pick all your wonderful brains further, I have received Poor law records of Catherine Lamont Robertsons mother, Alice nee Prior. She had about twelve children, eight had died and was in and out of Barnhill poor house thirty times, apparently many times drunk. There are many pages with dates she turned up at a night shelter, can anyone tell me where these night shelters were and were they run by the Church.

Thank you for your reply. No clues I'm afraid, her grandmothers maiden names were Ramage and Mooney and her mothers name was Alice Prior. I have just Googled Lamont and it came up with Scottish clan (medieval). It still seems a very strange name for a baby girl.
Kind regards Colcal

Lanarkshire / Catherine Lamont Robertson

I have a family member born in Glasgow in 1915 called Catherine Robertson. When I obtained her birth certificate it stated her name was Catherine Lamont Robertson. Lamont seems a very strange middle name especially for a girl and it is not the maidan names of any other relatives. Could anyone tell me if this is a Scottish name.
