Hi,

Great to hear from you after all this time.

I am afraid like you I have no idea what happened to Amelia. There was another child born to Charles and Amelia called Albert Reuben in 1886. I believe he died in 1889.

It really does seem to be a mystery and one I would dearly love to solve!

Regards
Halfpenny.

Hi,

The site is findmypast.ie , the irish leg of findmypast. It has the irish pettysessions and court registers so might be useful for tracking your James.

There are some records on the irish FindMyPast site showing a James Elliott SC, which I assume means sub-constable. It says residence of Noughaval Littleton. I am assuming Noughaval is the parish on Westmeath/Longford boundary. Could be worth a thought.

It looks like you could be right about the death at sea. There is one showing on Findmypast. the ship mentioned is the buffalo. I don't have a subscription to see the full record, just had a few credits to see the transcript.

Not sure if it helps any but the Stephen Wall marriage in 1883 has father Robert Wall. The marriage was in Trinity Without Parish which is in Waterford city.

Hi,

On FindMyPast.ie there is a record from 1854 in the Petty Sessions Books concerning a Henry Challinor for non payment of tuition fees for his two sons. His witnesses are Maria, Henry and Thomas Challinor.  It says that they are from Kilmallock. Could be them.

The actual registers for that parish are available. Not sure if you have seen it but here is the baptism in question.
