Sorry here my complete infos:

Hamilton, Sir Eduard * …(Schweiz um 1730), + … 1795 Kgl. Großbrit. Colonel in der East India Company,
x …
Gibson(e), Anne, * London … 1752, + … 1834

they have a daughter:
Hamilton, Hannah (Anne) Marie
    * London 9.2.1772 + Moigny, Seine et Oise, 1.2.1829
 X Cressier, Schweiz …
Comte d’Averton de Chevrainville, Charles Bon Victoire, * Milly 16.7.1762, + ebd. 10.9.1837,    Kgl.Franz .Lt.

The problem is 1. that this Edward is till now not to find in the web-archives of the east-india-service. 2. this Edward is probably born in switzerland. Is he a son of an emigrant ? 3. The title Sir could belong to member of the peerage, or ?
Tx and sorry
Leo

justmoi,
tx for this summing-up and your hypotheses (right English ?). If I understand you right, were these children "adopted"or "attended" by T.R., who had in the same time his relationship with C C McN. They grew up with this "parents" and their real parents were not more known. This would many things explain. Is this provable ? Though we can assume the character of Thomas Ransom, this could be very possible, a JP, who won a high sympathetic "standing" in this new land ... just as well his wife CC ... and my xxguncle Freddy had great luck with his choice.

May i send some greetings to all ?
It is all high interesting and gives many information about these times in Tas. And it would be very amazing to take part. Sadly i am too far away, and my uncle the historian Karl Rawdon vS is since years dead. So: get lucky with the needle in the haystock ... sometimes has the haystock the notice.
Best wishes LvS

Release by Marmaduke Robert Langdale of 31 Albert Street, Mornington Crescent, London, to John Robert Jourdan, Alfred Langdale, the Rev George Augustus Langdale and Francis Stephen Clayton, trustees of the will of his grandfather Marmaduke Robert Langdale, late of Garston, Bletchingley, and Gower Street, London, (died 26 Sep 1860, will proved 25 Oct 1860) relating to his one third share in the trust money held by the trustees. The trust money was also for the benefit of Henrietta Langdale, widow of the testator's son Marmaduke Robert Langdale, and Henrietta's other children Albert Augustus and Louisa, Marmaduke Robert, party to this release, being the third child. With attached copy of baptism entry for Albert Augustus Langdale, 22 Oct 1842, and burial entry for Henrietta Langdale, 5 Dec 1861

2. To the Langdales:
a.) M. Robert and Louisa are sure prooved sisters. They were named as children of M. and Henriette in a heritage document in ireland, which source i found and lost.
b) Fr.L. vS. and Louisa have a daughter: Hester, born 1868 (in doc. a)
c) This Hester married a Mr. Gordon Thom, died 13.3.1934, Melbourne, and a
