I'm told this is a pic of a Wilson and Cronin family get together, probably in Manchester UK.
There's plenty of identifying options, some probably wearing last years fashion and surely one or more would be wearing the latest fashion of the day, so a date would be appreciated.

They lived in Gorton Manchester.  Parents John/Jack? and Mary Beswick (nee Manning), known children - John (oldest?), Agnes, Cyril, Peter, Mary and Margaret the youngest born in 1927.  Possibly a William.

Can only find four children listed on freebdm.

Any help appreciated.

Lancashire / old addresses / census deciphoring
« on: Saturday 01 May 10 12:52 BST (UK)  »
My relatives seemed to have lived in what's now redeveloped areas of Manchester, many of the streets gone. Are there old street directories to be found online? Or do I need to get the magnifying glass out on old street maps?

With census information, addresses seem to double up on localities. Am I correct in saying an address like x street, Broughton Salford is the suburb Broughton in the Hundred of Salford?

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Amelia Cowburn, Herbert Wilson - Manchester
« on: Friday 30 April 10 14:59 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I am seeking info on my paternal grandparents whom I never met, Amelia Cowburn and Herbert Vaughan Wilson. They married in 1918 in Prestwich ? Manchester. Catholics I believe.

Herbert I have some info on and found him on a family tree..
http://www.bernardwilson.com/ghtout/gp10.htm

But Amelia I am at a bit of a dead end and confused. Dead end because I can only find she was born 'about' 1890 (told 1889) in Chorley, died 1932 in Manchester. Two sisters known to have gone to Canada, names unknown. Possibly sent via workhouses to Canada.

Confused because allegedly Amelia was in Chorley and Chorlton on the same night of the 1911 census.

So if anyone could help me out with any info like baptism , addresses, grave site, marriage etc; it would be greatly appreciated.

20,000 k away.
