New Zealand Completed Requests / Resources to find people

Hi all - I am looking for two people born late 1800's whom I can't find any record of past 1928 (mentioned in police gazettes in NSW and NZ). They possibly changed their names in order to not be found which would make it an impossible task.
I have looked on Ancestry, Trove, Papers Past, Archives, BDM NZ - has anyone got any suggestions of other sites to look on.  I'm trying to find where they ended up. Thankyou  8)

Neil McKellar was transferred from Yarra Bend Asylum to Beechworth in 1868. Is there anyway to find information re his admission to Yarra Bend? Thankyou to anyone that can help me with this.  :-*

WW1 1914-15 Star Trio – NZ Named 10/3209 Pte W J Butler.(WIA) Nice trio named to 8th Reinfs Wellington Infantry soldier. Butler was WIA in left leg 21/9/16 on the Somme and also TB lungs. He was discharged 2/3/1917 and died as a result war service on 1/9/1923. His next of kin issued with memorial plaque and scroll in 1930. A post WW1 war casualty. Correctly impressed “10/3209 PTE. W.J. BUTLER. N.Z.E.F.”.
