« on: Sunday 04 September 22 20:24 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find the cause of death for Private Arthur John Vaughan Reg No 21440 who died 11th March 1916. Does anyone know if this would be recorded anywhere please? I've had a quick google and it looks like the battalion were on the march to Vimy Ridge during this time. Many thanks for any help.

« on: Thursday 30 December 21 11:18 GMT (UK)  »
My 3x great grandfather joined the Police Marylebone Division in 1846. On his records it states that he was recommended by 2 men. Was there a criteria as to who could recommend someone to the Police to enable them to join? I'm trying to find information on the 2 men, James P Nevin of Upper Harley Streeet and Thomas ?well of Warsaw Place. Thanks.

I've been told that this is a watch fob. I think it belonged to my great grandfather (initials JRC) who was a Shipwright in the Government Dockyards for many years. Does anyone know what the emblem is on it please?

Does anyone know if there are records for the German Jews Hospital in Mile End Old Town for around 1851? It looks like it was also a school/orphanage. Thanks.

Occupation Interests / Annuitant
« on: Sunday 11 November 18 18:44 GMT (UK)  »
On the 1841 census my 3x great Grandmother Elizabeth Abrahams was a servant at Hampton Court House. 5 years later she married a fellow servant James Frost. On the 1851 census she was living in Belgrave and listed as married but was only with her 2 children, there was no husband. In Nov 1851 she gave birth to her third child Henry. This child was baptised in 1854 and the father was named as James Frost deceased Servant. In 1861 she was living in Marylebone with her 2 daughters, she was a widow and their occupations are plain needlewoman. In 1871 she was again living in Marylebone, was a cook and had her 2 adult children living with her and they were also in employment in a factory and as a plumber. In 1881 she was living in Chelsea and was an Annuitant however the following year she died in the workhouse.

So my question is, how was she receiving an annuity? I can't make any sense of it all. Could it have been from when she was a servant?

Lincolnshire / Lea Baptism
« on: Tuesday 10 July 18 22:25 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for a baptism in Lea for Samuel Gray. When I've searched on FindMyPast there seems to be a gap between 1766 and 1805 which is the time period that I'm looking for. Does anyone know why they're missing and if these records are available at the Lincolnshire Archives? Thanks

I'm looking for a birth record or any info on Walter St Clair b1891 in Trinidad. Are there any records online? He arrived in the UK in the 1920s and his family believe that he had been a house servant in Trinidad. Thanks

Would anyone know if there was a munitions factory around the Lezant/Launceston area of Cornwall during WWI? My grandmothers sister has given munitions worker as her occupation on her daughter's birth cert in May 1918 and she was living in this area at the time. Thanks.

Armed Forces / Length of service
« on: Sunday 12 February 17 16:17 GMT (UK)  »
I have a man who enlisted in the British Army c1911. Would there have been a specific length of service that he would have signed up for? I've searched for his service record but it looks like it's not survived and I'm trying to establish what year he would have been discharged and returned home. Thanks
