Ayrshire / Henry/Hendry/Hendrie Kiimaurs Family Disappears
« on: Saturday 14 August 10 18:38 BST (UK)  »
William Hendry (b 1824, Dundonald) married Helen McFarlane (16 Aug 1845 in Kilmaurs) and had children Marion(c1846), Helen (c1846), Agnes(c1848), Helen(c1850), all born in Kilmaurs. Data from 1851 Census.

Even though I've searched the Henry/Hendry/Hendrie alternatives I can't find any trace of these family members in the 1861 Census.

I suspect that they may have emigrated but don't know how to go about investigating this.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Ayrshire / Is Mirran Marion?
« on: Saturday 14 August 10 09:52 BST (UK)  »
I've two instances in the 1841 Census of Mirran Hendry who live next door to one another and are likely to be related but searches using this forename are fruitless.

Has anyone heard of Mirran as a female name or is it likely to be a mis-hearing/spelling of Marion or similar?

Ayrshire / East Ayrshire Family History Society still operating?
« on: Friday 13 August 10 15:38 BST (UK)  »
Is the East Ayrshire Family History Society still operating?  The web-site no longer allows you to log-in and a quick perusal suggests that it doesn't appear to have been updated for a while.

Ayrshire / Ironworks Square, Galston
« on: Friday 13 August 10 13:23 BST (UK)  »
Any information about Ironworks Square, Galston would be much appreciated.  My ancestors BRUCE/HENDRIE and HOWAT were living there around 1870.  I suspect it was a 'miners row' but maybe it had gone before the 1913 Ayrshire Miners Rows Report?
