World War Two / James Campbell
« on: Thursday 06 June 19 11:16 BST (UK)  »
James was killed during a torpedo attack on HMS Kent in 1940, the ship was towed to Alexandria where 33 bodies were taken off shore, I cannot find where James was buried.
I have searched the 2 military graveyards in Alexandria, purchased the 2 records off Scotland's people for him...no information from them, could anybody point me as to where to look next.
He is commemorated at Chatham.
Leading stoker, middle name Rooke(s)
I don't need any information on him just looking for place of burial.
Thanks Jasiain

Isaac Kennedy age 18 arrived 1937,port of Lyttelton, he was single and born in Antrim.
He joined the New Zealand air force at one point and served with bomber command in the RAF. He died 1942 over Hamburg.
I would love to know where he stayed in New Zealand, any snippet would be appreciated. He is commemorated in Auckland.
I am only interested in his time in New Zealand, not his war history or parentage, it's just a brief preview of his short life there.
Thanks for reading.Jasiain
His parents names were Robert and Margaret Ann.

Scotland / Two adoptees
« on: Sunday 25 February 18 15:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I have 2 children Hugh Allen born Circa 1878 (from 1881 census he was aged 3) and rightly or wrongly his sister Mary born 1881. (2 months age on census.)
I say rightly or wrongly as on the same census she has the surname Campbell.
Both children are stated as adopted, they then both take the surname Campbell and on Hughs wedding certificate he States his parents as Robert Campbell and Janet Wilson. He also uses Allen as his middle name.( Robert and Janet being adoptive parents.)
On the 1911 census it states the Campbell's had one child, that was their daughter Isabella, that is why I made the assumption about Mary.
Hugh and Mary's birthplace in 1881 both born Glasgow, 1891 Kirkintilloch (where they lived from 1881)
1901 Hughes given birthplace Glasgow and Mary's is  Hamilton.1911 Hugh Glasgow
I don't want any information on the Campbell's but the parentage of Hugh and Mary, I have tried variations on Sp, family search and Ancestry and cannot find anything viable.Thank you.

Ireland / Marriage certificate query
« on: Saturday 16 September 17 11:43 BST (UK)  »
On my great grand parents marriage certificate it states they were married in Ballymena registry office.
On the other certificates on the page the registrar states the other couples as married by license but on my grandparents it states by certificate.
Could anyone enlighten me as to the difference between the two.Thanks.

The Lighter Side / Murder
« on: Wednesday 09 March 16 12:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
From the 1913 Handlist of Proclamations 1714-1910 I found the following....."£100 reward for the murderers of 1864 April 27th.Kelly John of Benraw,Down"
If anybody could help with any information on the circumstances of his death I would be really grateful. I am trying to ascertain if he is one of mine.
I looked on NIDirect and the nearest death for a John Kelly in the registration district was a death 7th May 1864 age 75 reg Downpatrick. I have checked PRONI and there is no will. Thanks
