Lancashire / Manchester railway arrivals
« on: Friday 25 June 21 11:37 BST (UK)  »
Hello, I wondered whether anyone could tell me where immigrants from Ireland might arrive in the city centre in or around 1910. I assume that they would travel into the port of Liverpool, and then by train to Manchester, but am not sure where they would arrive. I understand that Victoria rail station was much bigger than Piccadilly at the time in terms of passenger travel, and that the main retail area was nearby at the top of Deansgate, so wondered if it might be there?
I would be very grateful of any information.  :)Thank you

Hello,
Please would someone be kind enough to help me find the names of people in the Drogheda workhouse on the 1911 census. I would like to browse the names, but am not sure of the path.
Thank you

Louth / Louth petty sessions court registers
« on: Saturday 22 August 15 16:22 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I have noticed that family search now hold court records for Louth, with links to a commercial site. I wondered whether anyone can tell me what each record, on that second site, contains? I particularly want to know how the defendants are identified, date of birth, address etc. I also noticed that there are several courts in Louth, so I would be grateful for any information on that. Thank you.

« on: Sunday 25 January 15 13:19 GMT (UK)  »
I have noticed that some marriage records on roots Ireland say the the bride and or groom are full age 21. Please can someone tell me what the regulations were in Ireland about age at marriage. What was the minimum age that marriage was permitted?

Louth / Dolan/McQuillan marriage - Termonfeckin
« on: Thursday 04 July 13 17:08 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Whilst at the nli, I found a marriage for Patrick Dolan and Margaret McQuillan at Termonfeckin in 1839. The Termonfeckin records there only start in 1823, so I could not go back to the births of either party. Is there any other Termonfeckin resources I could use to find the birth dates, place of birth and/or parents of the couple?
Thanks in anticipation.

Dublin / Saint Vincent's hospital, St Stephen's green
« on: Sunday 27 January 13 20:02 GMT (UK)  »
I have been told that a relative of mine spent several weeks in the hospital at St Stephen's green in about 1905, although I do not know any details of the illness. I have looked online, but have not been able to find out very much about the hospital, other than when it was set up. I found that the hospital 'was the first Catholic hospital in Ireland and the first to be administered and staffed by women'. Could anyone tell me whether the hospital was for women only, or was it mixed. Did it cover a particular area of Dublin, and were there other hospitals at that time. Did patients had to pay for their medical treatments, or was this a charity. What sort of treatments did it provide, and did it specialise in certain types of illness?

Family History Beginners Board / familysearch.org information
« on: Sunday 25 November 12 11:05 GMT (UK)  »
I have been unable to find a family marriage on familysearch.org. So I wondered whether I could find a marriage for each person separately , and then look at the details to see if they match.
Family search has the following details/references
-film number:
-volume number:
-page number:
-digital folder number:
-image number
Please could anybody tell me what these references mean, and would all of these details match exactly for a particular marriage record?

Meath / Gormanstown, Stamullin.
« on: Saturday 08 October 11 13:55 BST (UK)  »
If someone was in service as a butler/valet in this area in 1901, would they have worked for Viscount Gormanston, or were there other large houses in the area with domestic staff?
