Shropshire / Peter Smith 1956 Shrewsbury Electoral Rolls.
« on: Sunday 18 August 19 13:01 BST (UK)  »
I've been asked if I can find out anything about Peter Smith a spitfire pilot during the war. The second log book for his car gives his address in 1956 as Mount Pleasant, Shrewsbury. Then Yardley, Birmingham in the 1960's.
Shame his service number is not known because he was hoping to trace him back to the war years and I don’t  seem to be able to pick up the electoral rolls for 1956 as a starting point.

Think it's a bit of a long shot given the little information he has.
Any help appreciated.

Canada Lookup Request / Ada Brice first marriage.
« on: Wednesday 19 August 15 13:02 BST (UK)  »
I’m looking for the first marriage of Ada Brice,  Familysearch has brought up a lead. The Outward Passenger list for the ship  Megantic  27th Sept 1913 destination Quebec Canada lists an Ada Brice born about 1890, To be married and a domestic servant. If she is the right Ada she married someone with the surname of BIRD. Which fits quite well with the 1911 UK Census.

The Marriage Certificate for her second marriage in 1923 at St. Neots, Huntingdonshire England to Albert Robins, she is a widow Ada Bird, fathers name Joseph Brice and is a Greengrocer.

My other lead is Ada E. E. Hilson married Leonard Bird  in 1912 and died 1918. St. Neots, Huntingdonshire. HILSON is her mothers maiden name. I'm doubtful about the two middle names.
Any help would be appreciated
Thank You

Canada Lookup Request / Ruth and Florence Kingham
« on: Friday 24 October 14 10:27 BST (UK)  »
Looking for any information on two Banardo girls who sailed on the Polynesian in 1885 to Quebec, Canada.
Ruth and Florence Kingham, father was David Kingham 1847-1890 from Hitchin, Herts. Mother was Caroline Cannon 1866-1931.
Ruth was born in 1873 so she was 13 when she left England and Florence was aged 6.
I have the passenger list for the Polynesian, but would like to know more of the Canada side.
My mother was a Barnes, so the Kingham, Barnes and Johnson family are closely related, in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.
Any info appreciated.

Bedfordshire / Fanny Bluff. Little Staughton
« on: Thursday 07 March 13 14:41 GMT (UK)  »
I have a marriage record for a Fanny Bluff born 1837 who married Charles Robins 27th July 1857 at
Little Staughton, Bedfordshire. Her father was Thomas Bluff who married Jane Dork also in Little Staughton on the 20th Oct 1817.
But unable to find her on the census records. The 1841 census for Thomas and Jane show 5 children
Dinah born 1831, Elizabeth 1832, Eliza 1834, Francis 1837 and Naomi 1839.  In 1851 census shows
Eliza, Francis, Naomi with brothers Samuel and James.
Is it possible that Francis on the 1841 census is in fact Fanny Bluff.
       Any help appreciated, Rob
