Derry (Londonderry) / Joseph Caskey WILLIAMSON - my missing great uncle
« on: Friday 19 June 20 21:29 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am seeking information, please, regarding my great uncle, Joseph Caskey Williamson.  What I know:

- born 25 March 1897, Bovally Townland, co Londonderry to father John Williamson (1853-1934) and mother Sarah (nee McPherson)(1866-1954).
- 7 siblings, Margaretta b. 1890;  Hugh b. 1891;  Thomas b. 1893;  John b. 1895;  Herbert b. 1899; Eliza b. 1902 and Norman b. 1907.
- 1901 Ireland Census shows him age 3 living with parents and siblings in Bovally, co Londonderry.
- Church Marriage record for 2 February 1926 in the Parish of Carlisle Road, to Rebecca Livingstone Pollock.  Joseph's occupation was a Commercial Traveller.  His brother Thomas was a witness at the marriage.
- April 1954.  An Obituary for his mother Sarah Williamson in a Limavady newspaper has him as a (living) son, "Joseph C Williamson, 4 College Terrace, Londonderry, a prominent North-West businessman".

I have no other information regarding him nor his wife, Rebecca.

Any help would be much appreciated.  Thank you

My 5x g grandfather, Mathijs van HOOIJDONK was born 1775 in Breda, Netherlands.  He married Cornelia VOERMANS 1793 in Breda, and died 10 September 1826 in Baarle-Nassau.  His occupation was a gardener.

I have attached a copy of the death record, and wondered if someone could please translate it into english for me.

I hope the record may tell how/why he died away from his wife and 9 children still living in Breda at the time of his death.

There are several other records dating to May 1826, 4 months earlier, held under his name in Stadsarchief Breda, but the documents are pages ad pages long, so not able to attach copies here.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Chris

I have just found the apprenticeship paper for my 6 times great grandfather, Michael Widdows of Shipton, Oxfordshire.

I am having trouble reading what he was apprenticed for.  I can make out the word clothmaking, but there are a few words prior to that which are hard to understand.

Can anyone please help?

Armed Forces / my 4 times great grandfather, Joseph TOOP
« on: Thursday 28 June 18 06:45 BST (UK)  »
I have just discovered that my 4 times great grandfather served in the 40th Foot Regiment from 1809-1817.  He was born in Frome, Somerset in 1789.

The catalogue discription at the National Archives, Kew has a reference Number of WO 97/566/124.
It states that Joseph TOOP alias Joseph TOOPE, born Frome, Somerset served in the 40th Foot Regiment.  Discharged aged 30.

The National Archives public record also states that the full transcription is available through Findmypast.

I have a subscription with Findmypast, but I am unable to see the transcription or to download it.

Is anyone able to help me?

Thank you

Can anyone please date my photo?  It was taken in Northern Ireland.  On the reverse of the photo is written Grandma Williamson, Bovally.

I had two grandmothers from NI.  Sarah WILLIAMSON (nee McPHERSON) (my great grandmother age 88 at her death in 1954) and Eliza WILLIAMSON (nee CASKEY)(my 2 times great grandmother age 85 at her death in 1902).

Any help would be appreciated.

Derry (Londonderry) / Marriage of my great aunt Eliza (Lillie) WILLIAMSON
« on: Friday 28 July 17 22:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Just wondered if anyone could find any details about the marriage of my great aunt, Eliza WILLIAMSON and her husband Robert McLAUGHLIN.  Eliza was born 8 January 1902 in Bovally Townland to parents John WILLIAMSON and Sarah McPHERSON and I think she may have died about 16 June 1979 and is buried in the Drumachose Presbyterian Church in Limavady.  She had 4 sons (that I know of) and is believed to have farmed in the Ballykelly area with Robert.  I have no details about her husband, other than his name.  Thank you.

I have just received a copy of my 3 times great grandmother's death certificate.  She died in St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, from "congestion of lungs set up by a fracture of right thigh caused by falling on some orange peel."

There was an inquest held on 1 February 1898 where the verdict was announced as Accidental Death.  Her death was then registered on 3 February 1898.

I wondered if anyone could please find out any details of this inquest into her death.  Where was she when this happened?  Who supplied testimony at this inquest?

Cornelia was born in the Netherlands on 29 April 1822 (nee van Hooijdonk).  She was married to Pieter Josephus Dominicus de Somer and they arrived in London between 1870 and 1871.  She was 75 years old when she died on 28 January 1898.

Many thanks . . . cmatt
