Canada / Look Up Request
« on: Thursday 11 January 18 15:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone was going to the Downtown Reference Library who would be willing to do a
look up for me?

The family concerned are almost certainly still living so I cannot mention them here but I am willing to send a pm with their details.

Thanks

Hi,

Could you tell me how easy/difficult it is to try and trace someone who emigrated to Canada in the

1950's.

Renfrewshire / Scottish Directories
« on: Saturday 25 February 17 13:45 GMT (UK)  »

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how far in behind were the Scottish Directories printed.
I have found my 3x GT. Grandfather in the 1848-1849 copy and was just wondering how accurate the dates were.

Technical Help / Too big to save as PDF file
« on: Wednesday 08 February 17 15:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
The family tree I would like to print is lager than the standard 200 pages for a PDF file.
I am using Legacy 7 for the chart. I downloaded the tree using a Gedcom file.
I would dearly love to print the tree on 1 long sheet of paper but this will be over 30 feet long and incorporates 8 generations. I have tried splitting it up but it just doesn't look as good.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Armed Forces / Was my Gt. Gt. Uncle a deserter or a Naval Volunteer?
« on: Thursday 29 December 16 01:42 GMT (UK)  »
I have been looking for my Gt. Gt. Uncle for many years and have posted many times about him.
I have recently found out that he emigrated to Australia and fought in the Australian army for a few years between 1915 and 1917.
My question is; was he a deserter in 1900 from Aldershot or was he a Royal Naval reserve, service No. MC687.
These hints have come up but I can't access the records.

His Name was Duncan Murdoch McLeod born in Liverpool 19 Sept 1875.
He was a volunteer in No. 7 Battery, 6th Lancs' Artillery Volunteers and transferred to 3/4 Royal Lancaster Regiment on 27th Oct 1893. Regimental No.3965.

My brick wall is slowly coming down.

Australia / Military Records
« on: Friday 23 December 16 18:13 GMT (UK)  »
Is anyone able to do a look up on Duncan Murdoch McLeod.
He is listed in the Australian service records for WW1, 1914-1920 Brisbane, Queensland.
Birth in Liverpool, England 1875, relative William McLeod.
I am not completely sure if this is my missing relative and I would appreciate anyone's help in trying to discover if it is or not.

Thanks

Michelle
