Can anybody help find out what happened to Mrs Julia Evans of Dowlais, Glamorgan after 15th September 1851, when she was last known to be at The Neptune, Dowlais, or anything else about her life?
Julia Morgan, the daughter of William & Hannah Morgan of Penrheuwen Farm, Llyswen, Breconshire was baptised at Llyswen, on 7th September 1828.
Julia appears on the 1841 census, age shown as 10, with her parents at Penrheuwen Farm.
On 2nd November 1849 Julia married Thomas Prosser, tallow chandler of Dowlais, at Llyswen.
Julia’s husband chandler Thomas Prosser, aged 29, died on 18th June 1850 at Lower Brecon Street, Dowlais, and was buried at Dowlais on 20th June 1850.
Julia applied for administration of Thomas Prosser’s estate on 27th June 1850 and this was granted on 4th July 1850.
On 7th September 1850 Julia married John Evans, grocer of Liverpool House, Pontmorlais, Merthyr Tydfil, at Merthyr Tydfil.
On the 1851 census Julia (shown as aged 23) and John Evans (tallow chandler shown aged 28) were at Lower Brecon Street, Dowlais.
In June 1851 Julia’s husband John Evans was insolvent and locked up in Cardiff Gaol.
At his insolvency hearing in July 1851 he was shown as tallow chandler of Lower Brecon Street, Dowlais now out of business.
Julia’s husband John Evans died on 28th August 1851, a chandler of Dowlais Iron Works, having written his will on 18th August 1851
Julia proved the will on 15th September 1851 when her address was shown as The Neptune, Dowlais
No mention is made of Julia in the will of her father, William Morgan, of Llyswen, Breconshire, which was proved in 1855, but neither were many of his other children.
