New Zealand Completed Requests / Robert Stevens/Seale

G'day, I've been on a search for my Dad's beginnings and they have been elusive back from 1922.
I have had the help of some brilliant people from Rootschat Australia, and have posted the link below regarding the trail it has taken us.

 http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=764635.0 (Be warned. It's a long read!

From 1922-23 my father (work reference referring to him as Robert W Stevens) worked on the temporary power house constructed to assist with the building of the main Power Station at Mangahao Dam. I would like to trace his movements prior to working for the Power Station construction and immediately after, when I know he went to Gosford, Sydney (work reference). What ships did he travel on? Where from upon his arrival? And absolutely any other little gems that you may happen upon.
With no proof at this stage, but we believe him to have been born Robert (middle name uncertain, possibly Henry) SEALE. Year of birth was supposed to be 1895. As there has been no baptism records for him (or a younger female in the family), we're not definite. It is based on oral history.
Many thanks, Betty

G'day, We're (other Rootschatters and I) are trying to trace my father's beginnings.(Australia Rootschat - Robert Stevens-Photographer)  In Australia and NZ he was known as Robert Stevens, and a Rootschatter tracked down a family in the Bengal presidency by the name of Seale, which very closely matched the background of Robert.
I have enlistment numbers of 37837/8 for Robert and Colin Seale, sons of Walter and Kathleen Seale. The enlistment document is the only record we have for Robert. Would the boys (as we have a keen interest in the travels of both) have been called up for WW1, and would you be able to add any suggestions as to how to trace these fellows? We've been through FIBIS, FindMyPast and even tried various papers. We are not even sure if they were still in India when WW1 broke out. Tis a mystery. :) Cheers Betty

Gday I'm from Western Australia and we (Rootschat) have been chasing down my dad's background. We've chased him to Walter and Kathleen Seale's family. The man's name is Robert. Is some one able to do a search for Walter's will. It could help to identify if Robert is his son. The death was in Bengal in 1937. Many thanks BettyBoopits :)

Australia / Robert Stevens photographer
« on: Tuesday 07 February 17 01:02 GMT (UK)  »
G'day, Based on the information my dad gave me, his father was a photographer/touch up artist who operated somewhere in Sydney. Under the name given me, I've had no luck. The closest I've come is a photographer from Grafton. I'm still on his trail. Has anyone come across signed work done in gold ink? If so, apart from being elated, I'd like to know the name, which may help to finding my paternal family. The surname Dad went under is as common as Smith and Jones, but I don't want to mislead anyone by giving the name. Many thanks in advance for any help. Regards, Betty Ballard.
