Armed Forces / How to acquire an English death certificate online? - Military
« on: Monday 23 October 17 15:03 BST (UK)  »
My great-uncle, John A Campbell (b. 1923) died during WW2, but my family do not have his death certificate. I believe it was registered in July 1943 in Newmarket, Suffolk, England, even though John was from Perth in Scotland. Is there any way I can find his death certificate online? I am keen to learn more about whether it is known exactly where he perished (I believe somewhere in France)/ what mission he was on etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

« on: Sunday 22 October 17 19:06 BST (UK)  »
Roderick Sutherland Gunn Mclean was born in Glasgow in April 1888 to Roderick Gunn Sutherland Mclean (Also Maclean) and Susanna Hislop Brown. He was with the RAF and was Gazetted on 26th October 1916 as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 29th Squadron Royal Air Force and promoted to Lieutenant on the 1st April 1918. Roderick was killed in October 1918 and is buried in Rumes, Arrondissement de Tournai, Hainaut, Belgium. Because he didn't die in Scotland I can't find a death certificate and I would love to find it somehow as I am interested in finding out the cause of death. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Europe / Francine Forray - Chambery, France
« on: Friday 20 October 17 19:38 BST (UK)  »
Seeking information regarding Francine Forray, who was born on 23 May 1887 in Chambery, France. I would love to find out more details about who were parents were (I know her mother's maiden name was Martin) and whether they had more children. In 1917 in New York, she married William John Brown Mclean, born 1886 in Glasgow, Scotland and he died in Los Angeles in 1961. Of William and Francine's children, I only know of one son, Roderick Albert Mclean, born in New York in 1918 and died in Los Angeles in 2000. Francine died in Los Angeles in 1990. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thomas Smith Cordiner (b. 1902 in Glasgow, Scotland) and his wife, Margaret Violet Gillanders McLean (b. 1908 in Govanhill, Glasgow, Scotland) immigrated temporarily to Rio de Janeiro in 1959 but I am unsure as to why. I found their immigration cards online and Thomas was an architect and Violet, as she was known, was a domestic servant. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

South Africa / Gillespie and Greyling
« on: Friday 20 October 17 19:13 BST (UK)  »
Looking to find more information about Constance Catherine 'Connie' Gillespie, born 2 Feb 1892 in Linlithgow, Scotland, to James McLaren Gillespie and Annie Waddell & also Connie's husband, Hans Greyling, who I believe was from South Africa (His full name could be Johannes). The couple settled there but I have no clue about whether they married, however I do know that they had at least two daughters - Ann Katherine Drummond Greyling (known as Nancy) born in Perth, Scotland in 1925 and Kit Greyling, her sister, who was born in 1930 in Capestown in East Cape, South Africa. I would love to know more about them, especially Kit, Hans and when the couple were wed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
