Wigtownshire / Cothouse description
« on: Wednesday 08 February 06 15:31 GMT (UK)  »
In the 1841 census, my great-great grandparents Samuel and Mary Phillips Scott and eight of their children were living in the Cothouse of Glenturk. The only description I can find of a cothouse is that it was a "small cottage."

If anyone can tell me what a typical "small cottage" was like, I would appreciate it.

Regards,

Fred Smith

Cambridgeshire Completed Lookups / Ernest Langley born c. 1896 in Chippenham
« on: Wednesday 17 August 05 02:12 BST (UK)  »
Looking for any information about Ernest. He was said to have been the valet to Lord Byng when he was governor-general of Canada during the 1920's. Later, he, supposedly, worked for Irving Berlin. I can't verify any of that, so any leads would be appreciated.

I would appreciate a lookup for John Ford.  His wife was Ann and one of the children was Tryphena.  In the 1871 census, Ann was a widow, age 63, and Tryphena was age 29.  They were then living in High Bickington.

« on: Monday 19 July 04 13:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

William Turner Heal and Tryphena Ford were married in Barnstaple in 1871.  They also had a son Charles in 1871. Would like to know any other information about them that might be in the census.

Thank you,

Chloespop
