Yorkshire (West Riding) / Salendine Nook Meeting House (Casson)
« on: Thursday 18 March 10 22:01 GMT (UK)  »
Many of my CASSON family have a connection with the Salendine Nook Meeting House (Particular Baptists). I was wondering if anyone out there has any information on the above church? Does it still exist? Does anyone have access to or knows where I can search their records?

Any information would be most welcome

Thanks in advance

« on: Thursday 28 January 10 22:48 GMT (UK)  »

Hi there

I'm working on my wife's ancestry in the Burnley area. Ann YEADON married a Colne butcher called William BERRY yet her two children remained as YEADONs. The censuses below indicate that he was their father. Anybody got any ideas?

The IGI  suggests that she may have married William in 1830

Ann YEADON

Birth  1812   Burnley, Lancashire, England

Marriages  William Berry    1830   Burnley, Lancashire, England

The censuses of 1851 and 1861 indicate that they did marry

Ann BERRY, boarder, widow, 49, Nurse, Ingleton, Yorks

In the 1861 census Ann's birthplace is given as Ingleton and a further search of the IGI indicate her parents maybe  Thomas and Kesia YEADEN. Does anybody have any info on this family?

Thanks in anticipation

Graham

Cornwall / Well I'll say it if no-one else will...
« on: Tuesday 13 October 09 13:02 BST (UK)  »
I'm sorry to be the one to say it but putting a post on here that asks for information on the following names (followed by a list of forty ) does nothing for the site. It has already created an unwieldy posting that has now got 13,642 visits and 84 replies. Despite being connected with eight of the names on that list I shall not be bothering to trawl through all the pages that will undoubtedly be created.
Surely it would make more sense to copy your posting and include a different  name each time you post...say one every day? The technology is there to do it.

...but I suppose it could just be a world record attempt. McWHIRTER family anyone?

Cornwall / Elizabeth JACKA (nee RULE) born Lydford
« on: Saturday 13 January 07 15:49 GMT (UK)  »
One of the families I am researching is the JACKA family the first record of which I have is the 1841 census where they lived in Marazion, Cornwall.

St Hilary ED3 Folio 45 p14
Trevenna,1,John Jacka,64,,Tin Miner,In county,
,,Elizabeth Jacka,,44,,Not in county,
,,Alice Jacka,,15,,In county,
,,Richard Jacka,13,,Miner Copper,In county,
,,Bridget Jacka,,11,,In county,
,,Sally Jacka,,9,,In county,
,,Jane Jacka,,7,,In county,

In the 1851 census, Elizabeth gives her birthplace as Lydford, Devon. Her marriage to John JACKA identifies her family name as RULE. Does anyone know anything about a possible RULE family in Lydford?

Devon / Susan/Susanna/Susannah MOORE of Loddiswell
« on: Monday 11 December 06 16:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am researching the RICHARDS family primarily of Cornwall and later Lancashire. However I have been trying to ascertain just where Charles RICHARDS (b circa 1777) married his wife Susan/Susanna/Susannah MOORE of Loddiswell Devon b circa 1777).
The OPC for Loddiswell cannot find any reference to a marriage between 1794-1805 and the couple do not seem to have married in or around Paul, the parish church of Newlyn in Cornwall where they lived. The couple appear on the 1841 census and on the 1851 (below)
Paul ED1f
Folio 312 Page 26
100,Street An Nowan,
Charles Richards,Head,M,69,,Shoemaker,Paul Cornwall,,
Susan Richards,Wife,M,,73,Spinner W,Loddiswell Devon,,
Mary Ann Willis,Grndau,M,,23,Fisherman's Wife,Paul Cornwall,,
The couple both died in the 1850s (Susannah 1852 and Charles 1859) they are buried at Paul.

Any info or ideas about where they might have married would be welcome.

For anyone interested in the MOORE family (presumably of Loddiswell) there are other entries in a RICHARDS family bible regarding this family.

Nicholas MOORE b 1830 Oct 2 died March 12 1836
Elizabeth MOORE died April 5 1836
Susan MOORE died November 1856 (?) [if this is the Susan MOORE of above then this date does not fit with the date of her death recorded as 2 May 1852]

Thanks in advance
