Hi,
I've put this in Ireland General, as I think that the Robert Cuthbert that I am looking for may have come from elsewhere than Wicklow, where he was living in 1825 (maybe from 1810 onwards), or Dublin where his son Henry later lived.
My Great-great-great-grandfather Henry Cuthbert lived in Dublin from about 1825 onwards. He was a bookbinder, having been apprenticed from 1825-1832, and seems to have first married an Elizabeth and later a Martha. His indentures prohibit marriage, so I presume his first marriage was not earlier than 1832 and that his second marriage took place before 1841. He had at least one son with Elizabeth (in September 1832) and she probably died in 1834, possibly in or following childbirth. However, I can find neither marriage.
His apprenticeship indentures state that his father was Robert Cuthbert, steward of Kilquade house in County Wicklow. However, his birth/baptism does not seem to have been recorded there.
There are a Robert and Olivia whose children were baptised in Delgany close to Kilquade, from 1810 onwards, that I am guessing may be the same family but my Henry is also thought to have had a brother James with no evidence for his baptism at Delgany either.
As the family resident at Kilquade House at that time were of military background, I thought is possible that Robert had also been in the army prior to his employment there.
However, I have been unable to find any evidence of this.
So I am looking for:
1. Robert Cuthbert, father of Henry (and possibly also James), before 1810 - marriage and children born prior to 1810. .. or possibly just before 1825, in case the earlier Robert and Olivia at Delgany were just a coincidence.
2. Henry Cuthbert, marriage to Elizabeth - I have a baptism for their son Robert Thomas in 1832 at St Peters (CoI, Dublin), his army records and some later court documents.
3. Henry Cuthbert, second marriage to Martha - I have a baptism for their daughter Emma in 1842 also at St Peter's, but have not yet found one for their son Henry born about 1841.
4. James Cuthbert?
Apologies if some or all of these questions appeared elsewhere a long time ago but I am trying to take a fresh look at these problems. If I find earlier threads I will link them in.
