Australia / Hallidays from Whitstable who flitted to Oz
« on: Wednesday 20 March 13 09:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I have Stephen George Halliday married Alice Orpin..in 1908 ...can't find them in 1911 in 1912 Stephen went to Australia, i presume for work as in 1913 Alice followed with their four children all under 4 years of age ( poor woman)
One of thier children, Lydia Lillian Eileen,( born1910) married Edward John Humphreys (born 1897) in 1925, he arrived from Wales in 1922. They had a daughter called Alice Catherine married Ivan William Roser
Ive been told Lydia died in 2001 ( thanks to RC members)
A couple of questions....
What age is it legal to marry in OZ because if they married in 1925, Lydia was only 15 ?or maybe just 16 or they said she was older

What info is available on Oz marriage certs and as im in the UK how much are they ?

Hoping really that i can connected with someone related to the theses names, i had given up hope of finding my Great Uncle Edward as all i knew was he emigrated to Australia.. would like the family of Lydia to know about his family back in Wales.

Hi folks

Just found a ancestor that was born in Manchester, but somehow ended up in at Southport Promenade Hospital for the 1911 census,( have found he married back in Manchester in 1916) he was 22 at the time of the census

Can anyone tell me what type of hospital this was and why would he have been there 40 odd miles away?
many thanks Jo

Hi
Trying to locate the burial places of my three ancestors...

Joshua Bowden Beevers was 4 years old when he died in 1865, his death was registered in Heaton Norris.

Three years later Joshua Bowden his grandfather died also Heaton Norris, then his grandmother died Mary Ann Bowden died in 1875 aged 80

Where would they be buried, i am presuming that they are buried together, as Joshua B.B, family lived in Chorlton on Medlock, but his mother was from Stockport?

Im really stuck where to find them or records

any help apprecuiated , many thanks Jo
