Looking at some marriage records, they have "both of M.E.O.T." after the signatures. Does anyone know what it stands for?
Thanks, Stephanie

Hi
Could someone please look for a marriage of James Maginnes to Mary in Lewes between 1816-1823. First know child was born in 1823, but they could have married long before that.
Thanks,
Stephanie

I am looking for the marriage of Edward Joseph PITTAM and Elizabeth STARMER.

I was wondering if anyone was able to look it up in the church registers to find out the parents of Edward Pittam. The Free BMD has it as Dec 1856 in Northampton.

Thanks
Stephanie

Thanks to Marilyn at northants-familytree.net for a speedy response.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / St Margarets birth look up please?
« on: Monday 28 May 07 18:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am trying to find out the parents of Thomas Coltman. He was baptised on 25 Jan 1792 at St Margarets. Wonder if SKS could have a look and see if there is any info in the birth registers.

His mother could be either Elizabeth Warner or Mary Hurst - I think. Any other suggestions would be welcomed as well!

The problem is that Elizabeth Warner married Thomas Coltman senior in 1768 so it seems like a rather long time before having Thomas jr. I am wondering if perhaps Thomas Sr married twice? or if it is 2 different couples.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Completed Census Requests / The genealogist.co.uk - any opinions on this?
« on: Wednesday 23 May 07 13:40 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone subscribed to thegenealogist.co.uk website? I am wondering how it compares with ancestry.

Problem below is sorted now - many thanks for everyone's suggestions.
The reason I am asking is that I am unable to log into ancestry.co.uk, due to a security certificate thing. They say they are fixing it, but so far nothing has changed and I haven't come across anyone else having the same problem. I can get into ancestry.com, but don't want to have to pay the for the worldwide service just to access UK documents.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Technical Help / Ancestry Site Certificate help please
« on: Thursday 17 May 07 19:25 BST (UK)  »
I have been trying over the past couple of days to log into Ancestry.co.uk. I can get onto the website, but when I log on, it comes up with a notice saying that it cannot verify the security of the certificate, and a bunch of other warnings. Does anyone know how to fix/update the security certificates or whatever has to be done?

I can log onto ancestry.com, not a problem, except as none of my ancestors are in the US, now I have had my 3 day free trial and decided to pay for access for the few people I didn't get around to looking for, I would rather pay £9 ($18) a month than $29.

I have heard that it could be a computer clock thing, but mine is fine. I have an Intel Mac, using Mozilla Firefox. I haven't changed anything recently and I was able to log on a week or so ago.

If anyone has any good ideas, i would really appreciate the help.
Thanks, Stephanie

Does anyone know what girls went here for? Fallen women, perhaps?

I found an ancestor living there, who is only 15, and the rest of her family were living in Lewes, Sussex. It seemed a bit out of the way for one so young.

Any clues? Thanks,
Stephanie

I am looking  the marriage of Thomas Coltman to Ann (or Mary Ann) Daft in Fleckney, around Oct 1813.

Also wondering, if possible, to look for a birth of their son, Job,  around 1821-22, in Fleckney. He is not to be found in Leicester city, so wonder if he was born before the parents moved in to St Margarets.

Thanks,
Stephanie

Dumfriesshire / Burials for Turcoon, Glenzier & Blackrigg?
« on: Thursday 03 May 07 19:25 BST (UK)  »
My Musgrave ancestors lived at Turcoon, Glenzier Garden and Blackrigg, Canonbie in the 1850s-1880s. Does anyone know what the local graveyard might be?

Also does anyone know if Turcoon and Blackrigg were houses or villages? And if they exist still?

Thanks, Stephanie
