Tyrone / O'Neill's of Co. Tyrone
« on: Thursday 07 February 08 15:30 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to trace my Irish roots and would really like some help. ???

I only have a limited amount of information and I do not know where to start to develop this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am searching for O’Neill’s or Turner’s from Co Tyrone. The information I have is from Scotlands people.

John O’Neill {Labourer} m Anna Bella Turner, 11th September 1900 in Omagh Co Tyrone.
Somewhere between this date and the 26th December 1903 they moved to Scotland. This was the date my grandfather was born.

According to the death record John was the son of Edward O’Neill {market Gardner} and Elizabeth McLaren. John died in 1933 aged 68 years, so he would have been born about 1865.

Anna Bella or Annie Turner, daughter of William Turner {Farmer} and Margaret York. Annie died in 1930 aged 50 years, so would have been born about 1880.

Please can anyone help me, I would be so grateful.

Lanarkshire / A brick wall - Elizabeth McDowall

I am trying to find some information on my Gt. Gran Elizabeth McDowell
Her Father was William McDowell and Mother was Elizabeth Craig. She would have been born around 1892. According to family members they seemed to think she was born in the Highlands. All records I have found so far indicate a glasgow connection.
I have been unable to find a birth register on Scotland’s People or a census register for 1901. Elizabeth Craig died in Childbirth circa 1897 in Glasgow. William McDowell was an Engine fitter. They were married in Paisley.
I have found her Marriage register to Alexander Reid in 1913 which took place in Glasgow. She just seems to have appeared from nowhere!
If anyone can help me, with ideas as to where I can look now, I would be ever so grateful.

Argyllshire / McLellan Family Campbeltown
« on: Friday 21 December 07 16:35 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find some information on John McLellan and Flora Bryson.

Flora died on the 16th May 1917 aged 52, at Burnbank Place Campbeltown.

Her parents are listed as John McLellan Shoemaker and Martha McLellan nee Docherty

However Flora had a son Dugald McLellan born 7th March 1881.

This child was illegitimate.

Martha McLellan registered this birth.

When Dugald McLellan married Margaret Mitchell McPherson on the 11th September 1903, Dugald’s Father is listed as John McLellan Shoemaker ???

I am trying to find out more information about this, is there a skeleton in my cupboard?

If anyone can help me I would be ever so grateful

Hazel :)
