« on: Monday 03 July 17 14:41 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out more about my Great-Uncle Will's WW1 service. He lost a leg in WW1 (c.25th August  1917) and received the Silver War Badge, having enlisted as a Gunner in RGA 1915 and was discharged 1919. Service number 91618. In spite of this information I don't know which battle he was wounded in, nor where he was treated. Please can anyone help?

Thanks,

Totnor

He was a Gunner in RGA during WW1 and was injured in thw summer of 1917 - resukting in the loss of  leg. I have found him on 1911 and previous censuses, and also his Medial Card. I am looking for a Frances Mary Andrews who gave birth to a daughter, Gladys E, on 8 March 1910 in Christchurch Union (Fairmile House). The workhouse records for that date are in Dorset Archives in Dorchester - Creed Register - NG/HH/CC (1888-1911). If anyone is there could you please look up the admission and discharge records for her, please? I live in Scotland!

Many thanks in hope.

Devon / Lentell
« on: Saturday 16 January 16 13:39 GMT (UK)  »
My third Great-Grandmother, Elizabeth Lentell was born C. 1801. in (she states on the censuses Exeter). However, her son when she was old states Ottery St Mary. As a young woman she comes to live in Bath, Somerset where she marries William Tucker in 1822. I am not convinced her surname was spelled as above, but that wwas how it appeared in the Bath marriage register.

Although I have traced Elizabeth from her marriage to her death in 1884 in Bath, I have no knowledge of her early years, parents or accurate birth date and place. Please can anyone help?

Herefordshire / Elizabeth Evans
« on: Sunday 26 July 15 22:57 BST (UK)  »
My 3X Great grandmother Elizabeth Evans, born around 1795, consistently stated on the censuses that she was born in Huntington. I can't find anything online for her. I know there were two places by this name. She subsequently married William Beavan in Clifford  in 1820,  living and dying in Weobley after that.
Before she married William she had a daughter, Priscilla, who said she was born in Clifford (c.1814). However she was definitely not born there. (There was a Priscilla Cartwright born around the same time in Clifford whose line I researched in error until I was able to prove she was the wrong person!).

Please can anyone throw any light on the mystery?

Herefordshire Lookup Requests / WILLIAM & MARY BEAVAN (nee Evans)
« on: Friday 18 April 14 09:05 BST (UK)  »
Mary EVANS married William BEAVAN in Clifford in 1820. The couple subsequently set up home in Weobley until their deaths. I have been unable to find a death for William,  and Mary died in June quarter 1870 in the Weobley district. Neither appears after the 1861 census. Please can anyone find  burial or exact death dates for the couple?

Thank you in hope!

Wiltshire / Paxman
« on: Saturday 22 March 14 08:39 GMT (UK)  »
My Great-Uncle Walter William Paxman (jnr) was born in 1885 in Herefordshire, but became a Game keeper on an estate  in Tisbury. I have found him on 1911 census living at West Lodge. He went off to serve in the Great War as a Gunner with RGA. He lost a leg and was awarded a Silver War Badge (RGA/1450). His regimental number was 91618. None of his other records survive due to WWII Blitz. He went on to have a daughter (another Ada) and a grandson. Are there any records of RGA that might shed some light on when & where he lost his leg? Or any other facts that anyone might have come across to shed further light on him? He lived in Wiltshire the rest of his life. He died in 1953.

Thank you, in hope!
