Family History Beginners Board / Mary Holland - convict - tried in Surrey
« on: Tuesday 30 January 18 13:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hi lovely people of Rootschat.  Been a while since I was on here and not sure how to post a message for a new person.  I am looking for any family member in the uk of "Mary Holland" Convict. of Surrey or that is where she was tried.  Looking for parents or siblings.  Mary Holland was arrested for stealing bed sheets and a cotton counterpane in 1794 at age 19 (could be 26) and tried in Surrey, UK. Mary was found guilty and sentenced to 7 years transportation to New South Wales, Australia. She departed England in October, 1795 with 130 other convicts and arrived in Sydney on the "Indispensable" in 1796. Was listed as a Catholic.  Any help please.  Thanks Joany
