Devon / Does anyone visit the Devon RO for a marriage look-up?
« on: Friday 10 December 21 16:11 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to the parish record of the marriage of William EARLAND & Catherine KELLAWAY on 31 Mar 1834 at Nymet Tracey / Bow in Devon?

I only have the partial transcriptions from Familysearch & FindMyPast [both just give names and the date], and there is nothing on FreeREG, but I would like to know the full details e.g. any information stated after their names and the names of the witnesses.

Any help appreciated thanks

Kent / Help with new Cityark web pages please!
« on: Monday 09 July 18 08:09 BST (UK)  »
Although somewhat tortuous, I did manage to find records at the previous instance of the site. It has changed since I last used it (over a year ago).

Now, looking for a record I cannot seem to open any files.

I can get to the specific file I want to view by using the + symbol on the page but I cannot open the file itself to browse through (as I used to) individual prish records.

Can anyone help please?

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Translation from Cyrillic to English
« on: Monday 25 June 18 10:06 BST (UK)  »
I have some marriage and birth [poss. baptism] records from the Lutheran Church in Poland from the 1880s to the 1910s which are, as far as I can make out, written largely in Cyrillic script. As part of Poland was under Russian control at this time, that would not be surprising.

Any advice or help gratefully received with thanks

Somerset / Where is this place?
« on: Friday 17 February 17 06:34 GMT (UK)  »
I have a man's military attestation in early 1800s - he attested in Hampshire  - and it is recorded in the document that he was born "Roodbury" Somerset. It is tempting to try to guess how he stated this and in what accent and how the writer imagined it to be written, but the only place I can find / think of is Rowberrow.

Does anyone have a better idea?  Thanks

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Additional Hants records available at The Genealogist
« on: Thursday 22 December 16 17:26 GMT (UK)  »
FYI the HGS has put its remaining data from their Hampshire parish register transcripts online, and are available via The Genealogist (S & N) and FHS-online.

The NEW on-line records are:

Hampshire Baptisms 1538-1751, 1842-1874

Hampshire Marriages: 1438-1753

Hampshire Burials 1842-1865

This increases the data already available via (e.g.) Find My Past, and the complete data are also available from the HGS on CD.

Thought it useful to mention this in case it helps some folks
