US Lookup Requests / Bridget, Mary and Sarah Moore emigrated to US before 1873.
« on: Sunday 15 March 20 15:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
Does anyone have these sisters in their family tree?
They emigrated from Ireland to US before 1873. I don't know their ages, or whether they travelled together. I have tried the Ellis Island site, without success. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Canada / Mary Regina Wilson/Kemp
« on: Friday 15 March 19 15:48 GMT (UK)  »
Has anyone got Mary in their family tree? She was born in Troon, Ayrshire, Scotland around 1921.
Sailed for North America in 1940's. I've seen a certificate from the Fransiscan Friars of the Atonement in Graymoor, New York. Mary was believed to have lived in Ontario, and to have died in 1975.
Single when she left Scotland - and think she became Kemp on marriage.
No idea if there were children.
No other relatives left in Scotland to enquire of.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Canada / Sydney George Waldron - arrives Quebec August 7 1914. Then what?
« on: Wednesday 03 October 18 15:39 BST (UK)  »
The above sailed from Bristol, UK, on the Royal Edward. Arriving at Quebec on Aug 7 1914.
The purser's record indicates that he was going on to his "bro in law". None of his sisters survived beyond 1908, so it's probable that the brother in law came from his wife's family (Andrew). I don't know any names changed by marriage.
S G Waldron couldn't have remained in Canada for very long as he served throughout WW1, and his wife had a child in 1917, and one in 1920.
The only remaining descendant, a son - aged 98, remembers being told his father had lived in Canada when he was very young - 24.
I've not been able to find his return to the UK. Can anyone help with info about his departure from Canada/US? Or even where he might have lived?

In the will of John Moore - dated 1874, he said his daughters: Sarah, Mary & Bridget  were already living in the US. I have no idea when they emigrated or where they settled. Their father married Catherine in Rathfriland, Co Down, in about 1830.
I'm sorry to be so vague, but the only known family member living in Ireland hasn't helped.
Does anyone have these three women in their Tree? or can offer some advice?
Many thanks.

New Zealand Completed Requests / An address in Wellington
« on: Wednesday 09 May 18 16:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I've been trying to check on an address given me as a possible link to a distant cousin. But a Google search is fruitless.
Akaten Road, Kuro Kuro, Wellington, New Zealand.
Is it familiar to anyone, or am I way off the mark?
Thanks

United States of America / Help finding LORENZO HAYNES
« on: Tuesday 07 February 17 22:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
Lorenzo emigrated from the UK to USA. He sailed from Liverpool on Oct 22 1881 on the ship WISCONSIN, with his mother Martha/Mary and siblings. I've traced all the others, as well as his father Henry, who'd preceded them exactly a year earlier, on their way to the area around Salt Lake City, Utah - but I've lost Lorenzo. He's not in censuses or death records.
Does anyone know what might have happened to him?
Thanks.

Lanarkshire / Engineering apprentice in Glasgow prior to WW1
« on: Friday 25 March 16 18:58 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know if there is a general archive of marine engineering apprentices? An ancestor was an apprentice probably in Glasgow, shortly before the start of WW1. All I know is he was mentioned in his mother's will. She wanted him to continue his apprenticeship. He was born in Ireland in 1896.
