Durham Lookup Requests / Burials in Crook and Billy Row
« on: Saturday 13 February 21 20:09 GMT (UK)  »
Catherine Lee died aged 76 on 5 Mar 1913 in Crook and was buried 9 Mar 1913 Crook Cemetery in grave 1729.  Her husband Matthew Lee died aged 54 on 6 Mar 1892, grave not found but is likely in Stanley St Thomas but unfortunately the register (1888-1894) is noted as having been destroyed in a fire at the church.

I am interested in any others named Lee buried in Crook and Billy Row and grateful if you would advise if your hold an index by surname.

In particular I am trying locate the graves of Matthew Lee who died aged 73 in Jul/Sep 1878 and his wife Mary Tirzah Lee who died aged 78 in Oct/Dec 1884.  They had a son John Lee born in 1846 last seen in the 1871 census with his parents.

Dear All

Do you live anywhere near to Enfield Crematorium, Great Cambridge Road, Enfield, London EN1 4DS?  If so, would you be willing to visit and request to see the burial register of Tottenham Cemetery for Apr/Jun 1913?

James Edward Shrubsall died aged 41 in Apr/Jun 1913 in Tottenham and I would like to know of he was buried in Tottenham Cemetery and details of any others buried in the same grave/plot.

Kind Regards
Nick Cotton

South Africa / Eadie Cotton
« on: Sunday 04 October 20 14:54 BST (UK)  »
I hope someone with access to South African records can find any records about Eadie Cotton who was born on 25 Feb 1903 on Bethnal Green, London and emigrated to South Africa after 1939 when she was unmarried and living with her disabled father, a widower, in Bethnal Green.  He died in 1945.  She may have married in South Africa or died a spinster there.  I hope someone can find out when and where she died and was buried or cremated.

My search for the burial of Alfred George Shrubsall in December 1944 in or near Ipswich is proving time-consuming.

Alfred George Shrubsall of 268 Woodbridge Road, Ipswich died aged 57 on 11 Dec 1944 at East Suffolk and Ipswich Hospital.

He was not cremated at Ipswich Crematorium (where his widow was cremated in 1976), nor was he buried in Ipswich Cemetery.

I do not know if the Ipswich branch of the Suffolk Family History Society has indexed burials in the 1940s.

The search for the burial of Florence Codrington (nee Potter) in March/April 1970 in or near Cambridge is proving time-consuming.  Florrie died on 10 March 1970 at Fulbourn Hospital prior to which she had been living in Trumpington.  Her grandson attended her funeral and burial, he does not remember in which cemetery or graveyard, but it was not in Trumpington.  There was no obituary in the Cambridge News nor the Trumpington parish magazine.  Her parents had lived in Northampton Street in the parish of St Giles, Cambridge.  Their graves are found in the Ascension Burial Ground in All Souls Lane, off Huntingdon Road, Cambridge, but Florrie was not buried there either.  The Cambridge Family History Society has indexed burials up to 1950 only.  If only the place of burial was shown on the death certificate as it would be in the USA, Canada and Australia.  Any suggestions?

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Burial of William Henry Keal Codrington in 1951
« on: Saturday 11 July 20 17:44 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to locate the grave of William Henry Keal Codrington, born on 12 Feb 1893 in Gibraltar, who died aged 58 on 18 Apr 1951 in Wakefield.  Unfortunately, he does not appear to have been buried in any of the municipal cemeteries whose registers are searchable on the Wakefield Council website.  Does anyone have access to an index of burials in 1951 in West Yorkshire?

Galway / John Joseph Bourke Connell born 5 Nov 1853
« on: Monday 06 July 20 10:38 BST (UK)  »
Several researchers have been unsuccessful in locating the baptism of John Joseph Bourke Connell born on 5 Nov 1853 in Ireland, son of William Connell and Mary Burke.

There are a number of places in Ireland where he could have been born and later baptised because his father William Connell served in various locations where there are military barracks where the 17th (The Leicestershire) Regiment Of Foot were stationed.  John Joseph Burke Connell's sister Ellen was born in 1851 in Oughterard, County Galway and her birth was registered in the British Armed Forces And Overseas Births And Baptisms, so he could have been born there or in Limerick or in Newbridge, County Kildare.

I should be grateful if you could see if you can find his baptism.
