Scotland / John Blake b 1802 scotland
« on: Wednesday 15 October 14 19:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone

I have been trying to find the parents for John Blake b 1802 scotland, he married Christian Armstrong b 1805 also from scotland.

I havent been able to find any birth records or marriage for either.  The only hint I have is in 1841 Margaret Blake b 1764 Rickarton is living with them so i assume this is his mother.

Can anyone help me please  :o

Thanks
Amanda

Hi everyone

Could someone help me please.

In a small family bible that has been passed down my family there is a reference to a marriage of Marion Logan and Archibald Youill/Youll in 1755, they lived in Gargunnock near Sterling.

As of yet we cannot find any trace of this marriage or their children anywhere to confirm the relationship further down the line. ??? ??? ???

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks in advance

Northumberland / Haltwhistle Presbyterian Records
« on: Thursday 26 January 12 19:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone

Could someone help me please.

Mary Blake born 1825 Falstone married William Hunter b 1822 Haltwhisle sometime between 1842 & 1851.  They had 3 children all of which were christened in PRESBYTERIAN-NC,HALTWHISTLE,NORTHUMBERLAND,ENGLAND.

I have searched the images on familysearch.org for Haltwhistle and not one of the baptisms is recorded?  (eg.  John Blake Hunter b 17 Oct 1853 bap 15 May 1854).   ???

1.  I cant find any record of any marriage between Mary Blake and William Hunter
2.  Why would there be no records of the baptisms

Is this because it was a PRESBYTERIAN baptism/marriage.

Apologies for my ignorance but I really don't understand.

Thanks

Hi

William Earnshaw b 18 May 1875 - d 30 Jun 1958 LOWER AGBRIGG??

Where is Lower AGBRIGG?
Who would I contact if I wanted them to do an obituary search & what newspaper would it most likely be in?
In 1958 would he have been cremated rather than buried?
If there was a will would this be available to view online?

Apologies for the "BLONDE" moment I am having but I am ready to smash my computer up !! ???

Hope someone can help me

Thanks in advance

Durham Lookup Requests / WILLIAM THOMPSON B 1829 DURHAM
« on: Thursday 17 February 11 15:29 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Can anyone help me please I am going round in circles.

I am trying to find the parents of William Thompson b c 1829 possibly forton, Great Stainton or Aycliffe.  Sorry for being so vague but on most of the census records it is recorded as UK.

He married Margaret Barron b 1840 in 1857 Chester Le Street she died in 1874.  He then went on to marry Ann Barron (his dead wifes sister) in 1876.

On the 1891 census he is living with Frances Bowman b 1826 Aycliffe, who is in fact his sister.

So I now have Frances Thompson b1826 Aycliffe & William Thompson b 1829 and I just cannot find any parents or any other siblings.

Can anyone help me please.

Thanks in advance

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / ST. PETER, BIRSTALL LOOK UP PLEASE
« on: Friday 17 July 09 06:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Another roots member has kindly confirmed the birth and parents of my ggg grandfather William Earnshaw and details are below:

Baptism  28 April 1816
St Peter, Birstall, Yorkshire West Riding
William Earnshaw
Birth: 14 Mar 1816
Fathers Forenames: John
Fathers occupation: White Smith
Mothers Forenames: Ann
Address: Great Gomersal

I cannot find a marriage for John Earnshaw and Ann.  The only one I can find is John and Hannah Nicholson, could this be the same person?

I have checked the 1841 census and again no John and Ann only John and Hannah.

Could someone help me find a birth for John and also a marriage?

There are no other births listed for John and Ann, but there are more for John and Hannah?

Sorry if I am a bit vague but I dont really have any more information and am at a complete standstill again.

Thanks in advance and heres hoping.

Hi everyone

Can someone help me please, I have been going around in circles for weeks. ??? ??? ???

I am trying to find the parents of William Earnshaw born 1814 Halifax.  I know his father is called John as I have Williams marriage certificate and details on this are as follows:

10 March 1839 Parish Church of Birstall

William Earnshaw of full age bachelor, Ropemaker, Residence Tong, father John Earnshaw, Whitesmith

married

Mary Gomersal, spinster, residence Gildersome, father William Gomersall, clothier

Witnesses George Bromley & Joseph Woodcock

On the 1851 & 1861 census his birthplace is listed as Gomersall?  On the IGU the only birth I can find where the fathers name is John is Halifax?

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks
