Australia / Sybil Edith Crase
« on: Monday 07 March 22 23:55 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to find a birth record for Sybil Edith Crase. Born about 1901, possibly in Australia. Sybil held both a British (possibly, her right by descent) & Australian passport.

October 1919. Perth WA. -The earliest record I can find (Trove) is her 1st Engagement Notice. This engagement appears to last only a few months, before fiance marries another woman!

Feb. 1921. Passenger list "Miss S Crase" WA. to SA.

October 1922. Adelaide SA. Sybil's 2nd Engagement Notice

October 1923 Adelaide SA. Marriage Notice (Trove) Sybil (AKA Billie) parents are reported to be "Late Mr & Mrs J R Crase, Sydney)
Marriage Certificate details also show Father - John Robert Crase.
I have all the information I need about Mrs Sybil Edith Bennett nee Crase from her 1923 marriage  until her April 1991 death in Sydney.
I can find no B M D  records  for her father John Robert Crase.

Any help would be really appreciated.
Thank you

Occupation Interests / Hopper Blower - Farm Labourer?
« on: Tuesday 27 April 21 05:58 BST (UK)  »
Looking at a WW1 soldier's record, his occupation is "Hopper Blower". He lives near Hobart, Tasmania, Australia in a rural area. I suspect this occupation is connected with farm labouring, but wonder if anyone can enlighten me, please.
On his return from WW1, Aus Electoral rolls list this man's occupation as a Labourer.

Antrim / John Leith married Elizabeth Craig 1849 Ballymena
« on: Wednesday 22 April 20 05:10 BST (UK)  »
Looking for descendants of John Leith, b. abt. 1825 - d. 1878, & wife, Elizabeth Craig, b. abt 1830 - d.1893.
The Leith family from Ballymena & surrounding area, all seem to be connected and I'm trying to piece them together. Using the many genealogy sites available, I have a lot of information & online certificates.
John Leith is my Gr Great Grandfather, & his son Joseph, my Gr Gandfather.
It would be good to hear from others researching Leith ancestors in Co. Antrim, to share information.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Burnham Industrial School records
« on: Friday 14 September 18 21:03 BST (UK)  »
According to online Christchurch newspaper articles, January 1895, 11 year old Richard John Davis was commited to the Burnham Industrial School, when found neglected & homeless. In the same month, an application was being made to send Richard's younger siblings Emma & Percy Davis to the same school.
While I've found some earlier inmate / student records online, I can't find any 1895 intake records.
Are there any online records? If not, where might the information be found?
With thanks,

Glamorganshire / Adelaide Matida Stock
« on: Saturday 11 August 18 05:25 BST (UK)  »
Adelaide Matilda Stock's birth is registered Clutton, Somerset, England, 1846 & her baptism is recorded 29th November 1846 Compton Martin, Somerset. My last record for Adelaide is Wales 1861 Census.

Laleston, Glamorganshire. 1861 Census record shows -
Parent's - John & Sarah Stock
Adelaide -b 1848 Birthplace unknown + siblings all born in Glamorganshire -  Sarah b 1850, Emma b 1852, Henry b 1856 & Richard b 1857.

Apart from Emma, my line, who married, in Llangynwyd, Glamorganshire, 1870 and migrated to NZ in 1878, the rest of the Stock family disappears!

I thought Adelaide Matida Stock's fairly uncommon name might lead me to the rest of her family.
Any clues leading to Adelaide's discovery would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,

Glamorganshire / Sophia & Joseph Birch / Burch
« on: Thursday 10 May 18 05:51 BST (UK)  »
Sophia Davis (often Davies) was born in Ledbury, Herefordshire, 1852 to Thomas & Sophia Davis. Like several of her siblings, Sophia was married in the Parsh Church Llangynwyd, near Maesteg, in June 1869, to Joseph Birch (often Burch).

Mrs Sophia Burch was witness to her brother's marriage  - William Henry Davis married Emma Stokes 1st January 1870, also at Llangynwyd Parish Church. This is my line & I have this certificate.

Sophia & Joseph Birch then disappear! I've traced Sophia's parents and all her ten Davis siblings through BMD & Census records hoping for a lead.

Any help in finding Sophia, after January 1870, would be appreciated.
Thank you,

New Zealand Completed Requests / Emmett family Christchurch
« on: Sunday 29 October 17 04:17 GMT (UK)  »
About 1950's early 1960's, the late Emmett sisters, managed, or maybe owned, a bakery shop in Christchurch, on Shirley Road, near Marshland Road corner, opposite Shirley Intermediate School.
I believe these ladies could be daughters of Arthur William Emmett, who farmed land around Quinns Road & owned houses in North Parade, Shirley, Christchurch.
A W Emmett died in 1948, aged abt. 87 years. His children are all deceased.
I'm researching the shop owners & their family history, as a genealogy group project.
Can anyone remember the Christian names of the shopkeeper sisters, please?
Two possibles are Ruth Emmett 1910 - 1987 and her sister Gertrude 1893 - ?. Both these ladies never married. Recorded as spinsters on the electoral rolls, so no help re their occupation.
Thank you,

Australia / Robert John Beveridge b.1859. Yackandandah, Victoria
« on: Saturday 11 February 17 20:41 GMT (UK)  »
I have a lot of information on the Beveridge family, but Robert is hiding!
Robert John Beveridge b 1859, Yackandandah, to Robert Beveridge & Grace Forrest Beveridge, married Emma Warr, 1883, Wandiligong. Information sourced from family, newspaper, and index records online.
Most of Robert's siblings resided around the Bright, Victoria area.
After Robert & Emma's marriage, I can find no trace of them. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Valsgirl
