The Common Room / Charles Milton Frederick Fowler 1887
« on: Sunday 26 October 14 13:39 GMT (UK)  »
Wonder if anyone out there can break down our family brick wall.

Despite years of looking, myself and my cousins are struggling with this man.

He was born 7 April 1887 to George Fowler and his 2nd wife Mary Ann Young.

Our last records of him are in 1920 - firstly his marriage on 10 June 1920 to Emily Elizabeth Cambridge and then later in the year on the birth of their son Charles Fowler.  So please there is no need to post marriage or birth records, we have them, thankyou.

On his marriage we know that his mother Mary Ann Goodchild (she remarried after death of father George) was one of the witnesses.

After 1920 this man disappears off the face of the earth.

Any help or hints would be much appreciated.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Photo on Glass
« on: Wednesday 03 September 14 11:01 BST (UK)  »
I have a small photo on glass of my g/grandparents on their wedding day in 1896.

I live in Sth London, can anyone recommend a reputable photographic studio who could take a print from this?

I would rather it was somewhere I could take this myself, rather than posting etc.

Any advice would help. :D

Family History Beginners Board / 1911 Census
« on: Saturday 07 June 14 15:32 BST (UK)  »
Just a quick question.

As this census has been available now for 2 years, why are we still not able to post extracts from it on here?

Sorry if this appears to be a stupid question....... :P ;)

Hertfordshire / Family History Society?
« on: Saturday 10 May 14 12:42 BST (UK)  »
Despite looking, it seems to me that this is a county which does not have either a county or town based Family History Society.

My interest was Bishops Stortford, luckily I have been able to get quite a bit of general info off the net.

Have I missed something?

The Common Room / Agnes Gould Morton - who is she????
« on: Monday 20 January 14 20:45 GMT (UK)  »
I have discovered this woman living with some ancestors of mine.  The Morton family of 39 Boscombe Road, Shepherds Bush.  On virtually every ER up from 1943 with this family.

And she is even listed as the exector of the will of Algernon Morton (of same address) and she is listed as a widow.

This family had 3 sons:   Frederick Charles George William Morton 1888-1916
Clifford Lawrence Morton 1894 (think he may have died in 1917)
and Algernon Morton 1896 - 1955

Now I have searched for a marriage for all 3 sons, from age 16, and even going past the supposed death dates found.

For the life of me I cannot find any record of any of these 3 sons marrying (please do not confuse Algernon R. Morton with this one).

HELP......   Can anyone out there spot something that I have missed for looking too hard.

 ;)

Going night nights now, so will be back tomorrow.

Dorset / Edward Digory Harrison & Dorothy Cooper - Corfe Castle
« on: Friday 16 August 13 14:12 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for descendants or relatives of the Edward & Dorothy:

Edward Digory Harrison was born in 1893 Camberwell, London
Married Dorothy Cooper - 1919  (think Dorothy may have been a local girl)
He died in 1979 Corfe Castle, Dorset.

His parents were Thomas Edward Harrison & Lydia Mary Bate.

Would love to learn more about his life in Dorset.

My connection is through my g/grandmother Maria Harrison who was his Aunt, his father being one of her older brothers.

I have a some lovely family photos which I am more than happy to share.

Gloucestershire / Lillie (Lily) Ford c.1902
« on: Thursday 27 June 13 15:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am looking for information on the above lady.  She was married to Graham Fleming in 1928.

Graham died in 1932 and I can find nothing further for her after this date.  Graham died in London he was a travelling salesman.  I do not need any information on Graham (or any of his family), have all I need from his birth to his death and subsequent coroners report, so please do not waste your time doing any searches for him.  My interest at this time is only Lillie/Lily.

Is she a relative, did she re-marry.  I cannot even verify a death under either Ford or Fleming.

I believe she was born c.1902, in Barton Regis.

The Common Room / What was Wiliam's Occupation? COMPLETED THANK YOU
« on: Monday 17 June 13 12:50 BST (UK)  »
Any idea what William Gorringe's occupation was?  Forgot to add on 1911 census he is listed as an Invalid.  So could it be 'Hoop something'  ie being taught basket weaving in hospital?
