My great grandfather John Burt married Christina Drylie Dec 31 1866. They had a daughter Janet on Oct 25 1867 and christened Nov 17 1867 But she died of bronchites on Feb 12 1868. Christina died from complications of bronchites on March 28 1869. I don't think there would be a tombstone. The only address is Dunfermline. Thank you for your help gmar

One Name Studies: A to G / Re: Burt of Dunfermline Scotland
« on: Thursday 18 December 14 01:06 GMT (UK)  »
I think just about any Burt can trace their line back to Scotland or England.I haven't found a Burt convict. Our family left Scotland early 1900's The men had been in the Boer War and one brother returned there to South Africa and another came with his wife and her family. One brother went to Western Australia and the 4 girls went to live in Sydney New South Wales. There are other families of Burt in Australia not are not related to us-that I know of? Am willing to exchange information with you Cheers gmar

Well Hello possible relation,I can get back to Henri Burt as well. We will have to find out where we meet in our family trees Our Burt line came out to Australia, other Burts came as well but not related to us. I keep in contact with some Utah Burts. If this is your first post you will need another 2 posts before I can contact you off line eg send you an email etc. This is to protect people from spammers. I have been lucky to get information from many people even some on this site. They are especially helpful with brick walls so if you have any queries so ahead and ask. My grandmother was a Burt and she and her brothers and sisters came out here in the early 1900's and with some research I have found 2 more cousins with whom I correspond. Hoping to hear from you soon Cheers gmar

One really feels guilty for not giving my opinion on the shows.I watch them all-by myself as hubby is not into "family stuff"
I agree with what was said about Andrew Denton Has anyone watched his show Randling. very off beat funny
Rebecca's stint was acceptable especially as her ancestor fought the maoris and she, representing him came back and did that ceremony-a very big thing for New Zealand
Love all the TV channels but there is not enough hours  to watch all I wish to see as I must leave time for family stuff cheers gmar

You-all those people who come out - and help It is you who I am grateful to.Each person has their own way of helping and I am so glad. It is not nice being surrounded by brick walls, and very big thank you to Rootschat.com. for giving us the opportunity to interact. You are like pieces of a jig saw puzzle every little bit helps. For newbies it is a bit daunting as I remember getting asked all these questions. But one gets a bit excited about perhaps somebody will help me and then the magical pieces fit together. Bravo rootschat better than sliced bread. gmar

Scotland / Burt family Dumfermline / Edinburgh - research tips.
« on: Saturday 28 June 14 06:12 BST (UK)  »
well you are from Utah. You have most of the information on tap at your front door. The Latter day saints have a huge collection. I have my tree on there. I am not a Mormon but have found them to be most helpful. I do a bit of indexing for them. The more information you have before you go to Scotland the better it will be for you. Read up on the forums here at rootschat as there is so much info on all aspects of family history Cheers gmar
