Two "Old Comrades" chatting before the Parade. The lady was wearing her dad's medals- RAAF Pilot. She told me she was not aware until quite recently of his WW2 experiences and had only just received his medals, which she wore with great pride.

It always impresses me at the way in which ANZAC DAY is celebrated in Australia. Our visit in 2017 co-incided with it and we went to the settlement of Wolumla NSW. The parade was led by the children from the local primary school to an open air service which was followed then by a splendid bun fight in the Memorial Hall.

April is the first significant milestone since Jane died. It is the 19th anniversary of our first visit to, and when we fell in love with Australia. The occasion was the wedding of our son Andrew to Celine.  No ordinary wedding for them in a church but a civil ceremony in a clearing in the eucalyptus forest of the Opeia Camp site in the Lorne Angahook State Park , Victoria. This was about 100km south west of Melbourne at the eastern end of the Great Ocean Road. I loved the name of the track which led to the camp site- Breakfast Creek Road.  Sadly I can find no mention of this site any longer in existence.
As befitting our son and new daughter-in-law, the mode of dress for the guests was somewhat unconventional- fancy dress in wahtever style took your fancy, but Mum and Dad stayed traditional!
I can recall the somewhat basic sleeping conditions- we had a cabin rather than a tent, and the music for the younger elements of the guests just played and played until about four in the morning! No problems with the sound for the "neighbours" as we were well distant from the nearest residential area- but it kept me awake just a few hundred yards from where they were performing!

I can vaguely recall Ayahs and doby from my brief spell in Kenya back in the early 1950s. And on return to England always greeted my parents with "Jambo". (hello).

RTL, it sounds as though they got their sales training from the Post Office -"We've not had any other complaints!"

Good Friday service at the local Methodist Church . They have a decent sized car park adjacent and so the service was outdoors- a bit windy but the rain held off. Probably 70 folks turned up. Local brass band provided the music.  All followed by soup and hot cross buns in the church hall.

Last evening I went to another local Methodist Church in the next village for a Maundy Thursday reflection. Only about 20 turned up but very informal sat around a table in the centre of the church. This was the first service I have been to (except the Christmas Carol) since Jane died.  Very poignant as we took communion, as the last occasion was when we had a Home Communion service together just a few days before she died.

Bletchley Park. We visited about ten years ago. I can't remember why, because it is a fair old distance from Radstock just for a day out.- it must have been based on a recommendation.
We thoroughly enjoyed the visit, there was so much to see and get our minds around the utter secrecy about the place during the War and for many years after.
Well worth a visit.  You may want to get a copy of the Shire Library booklet  "Bletchley Park The Code Breakers of Staion X." (Michael Smith), before you go and get a bit of the historical background to the place and its activities.
