Bessie - thanks for that David......weird she seemed to have emigrated some 15 years before her husband. Its maybe a conincidence but her sister Lydia (my great grandmother) above died in 1923.

hi thanks for that.........I got that about right......only anomaly appears to be Bessie Laura sister of Lydia, as I have her in the USA by the early turn of the century married to a Sam Gilleland. Consequently, I would be surprised if that's the same Bessie Laura (Julia), who married in Woolwich in 1906...:)

Hi..........I'm trying to confirm the place and date of birth of my great grandmother above. I am told she was born in Bruton? Somerset around 1877/78. Oldest child of William and Amelia Abbotts (nee Lucas). It appears the family moved to Norfolk in the early 1890's. Many thanks in anticipation.

Would seem to concur on your Marwood Dominey info.....I also seem to have other children noted for him, viz: George and Albert, so not sure where they fit in, if at all. On kinship, I am the second great grandnephew of Marwood.... ;D

It seems obvious as someone mentioned, that there appear to be two George and Elizabeth Dominey families hereabouts, which is very confusing.

Hi everyone........well they said jump straight in. I can't see a search to see if the above family has been asked about already but apologies if wrong.

I am interested in the family of George Dominey (abt. 1823-1900) and Eliza Stuckey (abt. 1830-1913) - married Chard March 1849?. Probably had at least 11 children and the villages and towns of - Chillington, Knowle St Giles, Chard, Stock, Cudworth, Saltford, Ilminster, East Harptree, Broadway Hill and Chaffcombe figure often in their movements.

Several members of the family emigrated to the US around the turn of the century and did well for themselves and a book is being written back to the family roots in Somerset. As I am descended from one of their children, I am obviously keen to assist in this matter. I was also told there may be a Thomas Hardy (Harding) connection, with the Dominey's too...

Any help in sorting the tangled Dominey relationships of the 19th.c would be appreciated........ ;D
