Hi Jean,
The Mary Emma Amelia Hutchinson shown on the IGI as b. 24 Feb 1824 and chr 18 Apr 1824 at St Leonards has parents William and Ann Hutchinson. Does that match with your findings? The gap between birth and christening is not too great considering the time of year and perhaps mum and or babe were not too strong.

Hi Nanny Jan
Yes this does match with my finding from the film for the Parish register for the Mary Emma Amelia chr at St Leonards which is where I got the abode for the family from. There seemed to be quite a few baptisms (for other families) on the film that happened weeks after the babies were born and families travelled from other parishes to have their babies baptised. I am wondering if this is the case with Mary's baptism. I checked on the LDS site as to what films are available for St Johns at Hackney and it seems that no baptisms were performed there in 1824 or there is no films of them if there was. As the parish of Homerton was spawned in 1846 it is possible that they lived in the area that became Homerton and that would make the place of birth on the 51 census correct add to that the Christian names certainly match, the year of birth matches just not the fathers name.
As Holywell Lane is on the edge of the Shoreditch parish I'm wondering if some people may have classified it as part of Homerton and other saw it as Shoreditch which according the links for maps posted it is clearly on the edge of Shoreditch.
I'm feeling like I'm going round in circles with this one
oh well it could be worse I may not have found what I have and have no information to work with.
