I have tried under Abergavenny to no avail. I have a feeling this must be one that is missing. Thanks all!

I have yes. I have 2 families living close by in the previous census but then 1861 seems to be a blank spot. It's really frustrating as you can guarantee that will be the one with information I need!

I have seen it spelled Llandewy, Llandewey and various other ways too on different records. At this point I am simply searching "skirrid" and waiting for the autotext to kick in LOL

It's more the general parish I am looking for rather than the individuals as it seems to change from each census from Lanvihangel to Llanarth, then back to Lanvihangel in 1971. I can't seem to locate anyone in Llanthewy skirrid in 1861. I have a few families in the same area so I was hoping to look at all of them if I could just find the right area.

Many thanks!

Monmouthshire / 1861 census Llanthewy Skirrid - help needed please

I don't know if I am losing the plot slowly or if this was missed from the 1861.

I have William Morgan b.c. 1806 living at Pys coch, Typoch and various versions of the hamlet/farm/cottage ( not entirely sure which) in 41, 51, 71 and 81 with his wife Martha and various children. For some reason I cannot locate them on the 61. I have no idea which sub district I need to be looking for.

Any help pointing me in the right direction would be hugely appreciated. TIA

That is really helpful information thank you.

I have wondered a few times why Timothy would have gone back that area to get married when his parents and wife's family were over by Bedwellty. It would make sense that if they had family there.

I finally feel like I am making progress, thanks!

Many thanks Roger, that is really helpful.

In the parish records I see a fair few entries for William and wife Martha although I haven't yet been able to link these to my Thomas or Timothy.

I shall take a good look at what you have found, thank you!

Monmouthshire / Help needed - placename - pys coch?

I am really hoping someone can help me with this place name as I have been going round in circles for almost 15 years trying to locate these particular Morgans.

Timothy was my GGG grandfather who married Hannah Lott in Abergavenny. Parents Thomas Morgan and Mary Dew. He was born in Abergavenny and baptised in the parish of Llandewy-Skirrid. He can be found on further census records in Sirhowy before moving with his family to Pontycymmer.

I have never been able to find a marriage for his parents so I am hoping that going back over possible records I can find clues.

TIA!
