Sorry Gadget I did not see your post before I posted mine.  I have checked the Whittington/Halston book, it is only from 1690ish and has very few entries.
A search in Ancestry on place Shropshire and the text Haiston produces 28,000 records, all seem to have the text “Book:    Register of Haiston.--Burials. (Burial).”  This is many more records than ever was in Halston.  The first 311 records do not have any date, the 312th starts at 1558 and is a burial.  The undated records are mostly headings and notations but some are identifiable, such as

Which is identifiable as the 1665 Oswestry marriage in the Select Marriages dataset
Name:    Mary Mrs Davenport Gender:    Female Marriage Date:    Jul 1665 Marriage Place:    Oswestry,Shropshire,England Spouse:    Walter Griffiths.
The dated records from 1558 match what is in the Oswestry register on Archive.org, with some entries missing, [ie Nov 1558 has only 3 of the 8 entries from the Oswestry Register]. 
So it seems it is likely taken the Oswestry register available on archive.org.  It is not in the first volume which covers 1558 to 1593, so I will try the subsequent volumes on archive.org later today [Oz time], and will repost my findings in about 12 hours.

In the dataset on ancestry "All Shropshire, England, Extracted Church of England Parish Records" there is an entry that is a will transcript that is undated and that does not contain the name of the deceased.  I am trying to ascertain the date and whose will it is.  The item can be found on ancestry searching, with no date, the place Oswestry, Shropshire, on the the terms Evance or Yale.
The transcript available and record details on Ancestry are:

Looking for Michael's wife Elizabeth I thought I had checked all the deaths, including the GRO with ages for the 1850s deaths, obviously I hadn't, a senior moment of my own! 
For young Mary I did have the GRO record copied, but the GRO record shows the age as 9 rather than 9 months.  She was christened Mary Slater (living with Joseph Slater on 1861 census) with her mother showing as Elizabeth Allen (she married Martin Allen in 1852), and buried as Mary Ann Brady, with her mother recorded under her maiden name as a single woman!!

I am in Australia and cannot get to the Notts archive myself.
I provided all the information I have as:
 - I have no better idea about when Michael Brady was admitted other than sometime between the 1851 census and the 1861 census.
 - I have no idea whether his wife Elizabeth was admitted, &, if she was, whether she was discharged or whether she died in the workhouse.
 - I have no idea whether Michael was discharged before he died in December 1863.
 - I have no idea what level of detail is included in the admissions & discharges & whether it would include the Irish town as well as county where he was born or lived.
I didn't specify just the admissions/discharges as I am not aware of the format - if he was in for a number of years is the discharge shown with the admission or as a separate entry? etc.  There is also a rather ominous "etc." at the end of the list of records, so I was hoping someone with knowledge would rule out possible entries in the "etc." records.
