Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes we do have a copy of the service record from NZ Army at Trentham and they advised that any details/records relating to the MID were held by the War Office in London..

Thanks, Homers.

I believe the war office in UK. hold the records but so far have not found out how to retrieve my late Father-in-Laws details of his M.I.D. citation. We do have a certificate only, issued by the N.Z. forces.
Is someone able to point me in the right direction.   Homers....N.Z.

Dumfriesshire / Re: Currie Family - James Currie & Jane Sloan, Annan Parish

Hi Jane,  Re your post to Leonie regarding the Feilding, N.Z. Cemetery. I initiated the original post regarding the Currie Family. My Gt. Grandparents are Charles and Jane (nee Irving), who along with their son, are buried there along side my Grandparents Henry and Agnes (nee Currie) Simpson, Agnes being a daughter of Charles and Jane. I do have a photo of these headstones if you would like a copy.
Regards, Homers.

Hi Heather,  I have had a look at a copy of Thomas's will (died 21 December 1854) and Mentioned is second wife Jean MacKay (nee Ramsay). Their Oldest daughter Mary (married William Milne) and Youngest Daughter Jean MacKay. Son James from first marriage carried on at the farm. it may be easier to send attachments via e-mail  even if it means sending smaller files! Thomas's will shows spelling as "MacKay", his son from first marriage, James shows a change to McKay in his will. They are the same family.  I hope this information is helpful to you. Look forward to hearing further from you.... Regards, Homers!!!!

Hi HeatherLima....Thank you for your posting...I would love any photos of Thomas (my 3rd Gt Grandfather)and family you have. The only photos I have are of the Auld Allan homestead and the Mill next door as well as the Headstone of Thomas's son James, who married Marjorie Annand, which is directly behind the old church at Lintrathen.   The McKay connection I have is from one of the four son's of James who emigrated to New Zealand in mid 1850's. A book written in N.Z. by M. Noeline Shaw called "The History of The McKay Family of Wyndham", (Wyndham is in the South Island, N.Z.), gives a picture of the N.Z. connection.
I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Homers.

Hi Lynda J, Yes, there is a connection, Thomas who farmed Auld Allan was my 3rd Gt. Grandfather, father of James. James also farmed the property. Four of James's sons emigrated to New Zealand, David (my Gt. Grandfather), and brothers Peter, John Annan and Robert Malcolm, all settled in Southland, New Zealand. In Thomas' Will it shows ... "my elder daughter by my present marriage (to Jean Ramsay), Mary Mackay wife of William Milne" - perhaps "Betty" was her known name!! Thomas had James, Catharine, Martha and Margaret (shown in Will) from his first marraige to Agnes Wilson. I hope this may help you with your research. Please don't hesitate to contact if you feel I can help further.  Homers.

Hi Tania, I have had a look at LDS (Family Search) but unable to link into Thomas on a Family Tree. Not sure if you rec'd my reply a few days ago..... I live in N.Z. and we do have a lot of information on 4 sons of James' family (son of Thomas) who migrated to N.Z. A book was written by a family member who has researched the family. James' headstone sits directly behind the old Lintrathen church, around 2 or 3 rows back and is a tall headstone with a "Vase" on top. Last year I visited there with family but because of weather and time constraints was unable to take in more than that headstone.
If you wish you can contact me on "homarg2@vodafone.co.nz" and I could give you more info.

Hi Gali

Thank you for your responses re above.

Perhaps I should have expanded a little...Thomas was my GGG Grandfather, married to Agnes McKay (nee Wilson), this information was collected some years ago, around 1984, by a relative who visited and did talk to some family then.  Thomas' son James Born 1799, Died 1889 Farmer of AuldAllan, as shown on his headstone at Lintrathen churchyard. James married Marjory Annand 1801 - 1887.
Four on James' sons emigrated to New Zealand - 1858 and 1863.

The will you mentioned for Thomas Mackay, tenant at Wester Auld Allan!! Was this a farming property?

I would like to thank you once again for your assistance.

p.s. I believe the Old Mill has been turned into an Accomodation where one can stay and that the old Steading home is occupied.
