The Common Room / Re: Swain brick wall, Leicestershire/Lincolnshire

Hi Annie,

The Eleanor Swain death in 1837 is a child if I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure she passes in Leicestershire.

I am trying to find whether the Thomas Swain who married Mary Thorold is a relative, possibly a brother of William.

I just don't trust the answers he has given on the census.

Again, not sure, nothing matches in Grantham. I would say a possible place is Leicestershire. Need to go through news papers again, all very strange how they just disappear. Alfred again is one that I think moves to Nottingham but unable to prove it

Just unable to find any William Swain with his dad having the same name at this time. Also think it needs to be closer to Branston Leicestershire.

Good evening to anyone reading this..

I am trying to crack my brick wall and failing.

William Swain married Eleanor Johnson in Branston Leicestershire 1816, they had children in Branston. William appears in the 1841census with a new wife Elizabeth in Grantham Lincolnshire, on his marriage to Elizabeth Starbrook he is of age in 1840 in Grantham, and his father's name is William. He is down 45 years old in 1841 and 66 in 1851 and born in havington Lincolnshire.

In 1841 you have a Thomas Swain who married a Mary Thorold living in Branston, could this be a brother of my William?

Douglas I only realised this morning it may have been you.

Could I get your email or maybe you could email me on (*) to get more information about this?

Douglas this is amazing and can’t believe it.

Kenneth is my nans partner and the two girls are his cousins.

The house in Caversham street was bombed and a lodger lost his life and Kenneth’s Grandfather only just got away with his life.

Ken was back home when the house was bombed.

How did you find this out for further research.

Again thank you very much

Chris
