Hi Phil

I came across your post whilst looking for my family.  James Mckeone was my grandmothers father and I had the same questions as you!! thanks for your post and answering my questions !!!

Louise

Hi Louise
So glad this has helped you.  What was your grandmother's name?  Would you like access to my family tree (it's in Genes Reunited at the moment, but I will move it to Ancestry.com when I can figure out how to do it).  John b1821 married Bridget in Ireland but he was much older than her.  John has an interesting army record, he served in India for about 18 years.  My mother,  (Sheila Mary McKeone), always told me that there were two brothers who came from Ireland to Middlesbrough, one of them was obviously John (who changed the spelling of his name), but I've been unable to find the other brother.  There are still many McKeones living in Middlesbrough, its quite an unusual spelling.  I would be very interested if you have any more information to share.

Regards
Phil

Hi Steve
Do you have any more info on the Butlers of Ramsey & Ely?
Also interested in more info on George Butler's 2nd wife Sarah Wright.  According to the info that I have she was only 17 when he married her and she was already a widow!? I suspect she was born 1780 not 1790.

This is as far back as I've gone so far:

GEORGE BUTLER
birth: September 1747
christening: 26 September 1747, Holy Trinity Ely
Marriage: 10 Mar 1769 Trinity, Ely, Cambridge, England
burial: 1794, Ely
spouse:   Mary Woodbine
father:   William Butler
mother: Mary Greene?

MARY WOODBINE
christening: 16 May 1744, Trinity, Ely, Cambridge, England
father:   Henry Woodbine
mother:  Ellingale Woodbine
Marriage: 10 March 1769
Trinity, Ely, Cambridge, England
burial: 1805, Ely

ELLINGALE WOODBINE (nee Hull)
born 23 September 1706
Christening 23 Sep 1706 Trinity, Ely, Cambridge, England
father: Tho. (Thomas?) Hull
mother:   Mary

Hi Steve
William Lant married Sarah Rattford in Ramsey 7.8.1761
Children of William & Sarah:
1762 John, 1766 Sarah, 1767 Elizabeth, Ann 1771, Susannah 1773
and Rebecca baptised 10.1.1776.
As you know Rebecca married William Butler (Buttler)

If you like, I can show you the Butler family tree that I have so far, I've been working on it in Genes Reunited.  I'm also interested in seeing how you're descended from William & Rebecca.  There are loads of census records for Butler's in Ramsey throughout the 1800's and most of them seem to be related. A couple of them were publicans.  My line of Butler's ended up in Middlesbrough in 1870. Then we immigrated to Australia in 1966.  Living so close to Ramsey you must be in an excellent position to access all the old records?

Thanks David, you're very helpful mate.  Sorry I didn't respond to your previous post I thought I had responded to everyone.  Now it makes sense as to why I'm having so much difficultly finding records for the family in Hunts, so I suppose I'll have to pay for the CD Rom from Hunts FHS.
Thanks again for the helpful hints and information

Hi
I'm trying to find the Husband's name and maiden name of this Elizabeth Butler, also any siblings/parents/grandparents of Elizabeth and her husband:

1841 Census, Forty Foot Bridge. Ramsay, Huntingdonshire.  Elizabeth Butler 1801 (40), William 1821 (20), George, Elvin (Eliza?), John 1826 (15) triplets?, Henry 1829 (12), James 1837 (4)

1851 Census, Forty Foot Bridge. Elizabeth Butler 1799 (52), William, son,1821 (30), Henry, son, 1830 (21), James Day Butler, son, 1837 (14)

The Father of Elizabeth's children doesn't appear on either census and I can't find their marriage record or any birth records of the kids.

Thanks
Phil Butler

Hi
Please can anyone confirm the children's names of William Butler 1775 & Rebecca Lant 1776 married Ramsay, Huntingdonshire.  I have; Sarah 1796, George 1801, Mary 1803, John 1807-1807.  I think that Rebecca Butler (Lant) died in 1807 so could have been when she was in childbirth with John.

I would also like to confirm if William Butler (Buttler) 1775 then married Sarah Wright 1790 and they possibly had 15 children.  I believe the first 5 children were:  John 1808, Elizabeth 1810, Susanna 1812, Jane 1814, Henry 1816.  Can anyone find the rest of the names?

Also, I would like to find the parents and siblings of William Butler 1775.  His parents might have been George Butler 1750 & Mary Woodbine in Huntingdonshire

Thanks

Please can anybody help with this one? ... I need information on James McKeone b.1880.  Father John McKeone 1821, mother Bridget McGowan b.1845

1881 Census - At Commercial St. Middlesbrough, James McKeone is about 6 months old, living with Father John b 1821. & Mother Bridget b.1845, siblings Elizabeth 14, Mary 12, John 10, Michael 8, Bernard 6, Annie 3

1891 Census - At 6 Nelson Pl. Linthorpe Middlesbrough, Thomas & Elizabeth ROBINSON are living with daughter Annie McKeone 13, son James McKeone 11, son Patrick McKeone 8, daughter Lena Robinson 2.  The McKeone kids are clearly shown as the sons and daughters of the Robinsons on the original census document.

1897-1900 James McKeone served in Yorkshire Royal Artillery.  His army record on discharge in 1900 shows a notation scrawled on the back of one of the pages which states; NOK sister Eliza McCabe ("McKeone" had been written then crossed out) and mother Elizabeth Robinson.  Eliza McCabe was definitely James' older sister Elizabeth McKeone b.1867 who was married to Eugene McCabe.

1911 Census - At 22 Suffield St. Middlesbrough.  James was living with wife Catherine (Jones), Daughters Agnes 6, Freasia 5, Catherine 6 mths, Son James 2, Sister in law Agnes Jones 12, Niece Elizabeth McCabe 24 (his sister Elizabeth's daughter) and wait for it ......... his MOTHER Bridget 63, widow.  His mother on his birth record and from the 1881 census.

I can't work it out.  Was John McKeone b.1821 with Elizabeth Robinson at some stage? Could they have had Patrick together? Then did Elizabeth take Bridget's kids Annie and James with her and go off and marry Thomas Robinson?  Hope this makes sense.  Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks
Phil
