Thank you so much that's fab, I already have Caroline Florence in my tree but i was under the impression from the baptism that Costins was the fathers name, I never looked on the gro for her birth, but now I come to think of it it also states Elizabeths home address on the baptism, I'm going to have to go a bit deeper with her now I think 🙂
I too noticed Benjamin McMillan in the 1851 census with the Farmers not that long ago after delving a bit further it appears that benjamins mother was an Ann Costins who was Mary Farmers sister and Elizabeth's fathers brother, so if I'm correct Mary was his aunt and Elizabeth and Benjamin were actually cousins.
As for George's birth been in wales I think your probably right her sister Ellen did marry someone from a nearby wales area but that was not untill 1865 so maybe they went together, or Ellen was already courting John Parry and Elizabeth stayed with her whilst she had the baby? It's all speculation of course but I have just received George's death certificate in the post and that points more to him been born 64/63 so it is a possibility. Thank you for all your help, your absolutely brilliant at this 🙂

Thank you, i have George and Harriett from solidly from 1891 untill his death in 1925, although he's listed on the census in 91 he's not on the electoral roll for linden road so I'm trying to find where they were for the missing years of 85-91. There's no particular reason I am searching at those addresses other than that they are all I have to go off I'm afraid. I should add George was illegitimate and Costins was 'potentially' his mothers name I have no birth certificate for him and in the 1871 census he was listed as George bullock- nephew although by 1881 he was listed as George Costins son so I can't be 100% sure whether he was a bullock or Costins but bullock is only used the once from what I have found.

Hi just wondering if you have got any further with this? Iv stumbled across the Mcmillans in my own tree. Daniels wife was Ann Costins and they married in Oxfordshire in 1824.

Thank you what a fabulous find! If I remember correctly the residence given on Elizabeth's marriage certificate in 1868 said Clarence so I wonder if it is the same one? It also said James was an innkeeper so I'm going to see if that gives me any clues, I have a feeling maybe he didn't pass when the paper said he did. I have come across mr onley who was james Costins boss several times, however iv not seen miss Lowis mentioned once so I will look into her. The Costins you've found on the genealogist are some of james siblings and there family's from what iv gathered as there names appear as witnesses on banns etc I don't have an account with genealogist through so I'm hoping there on ancestry or FindMyPast🙂

Thank you that never occurred to me, I'll look into that🙂 I managed to find Hannah costins death and obituary but as you said no burial so it's possible. As for James it was revealed in the newspapers that he had been having having an affair for years and eventually got caught and was taken to court for it, he did proclaim his innocence but was found guilty, he managed to get a retrial but apparently died in 1852 before the retrial happened but that was just reported in the paper iv found no other evidence than that so I assumed that maybe the family has disowned him as he had left the family home. Although iv noticed that on his daughters marriage certificates it does not state he is deceased untill 94 is it possible maybe he left Gloucester altogether and started again elsewhere? Or did they just not state whether they were dead or alive back then? Iv also been unable to find his baptism but found his siblings so I can't help but wonder if James was his actual name as I can't find anything other than census's.

Thank you 🙂  I'd too noticed that he's listed as nephew in the census but then in the 1881 census he was listed as a stepson so iv been unsure of which he actually was, although Elizabeth's oldest sister Ann was married to a Charles bullock but they emigrated with their children before George's birth and iv been unable to find any proof that he could possibly be theirs so I do wonder if maybe they just used bullock to cover up the illegitimate birth at the time. As for the birth certificate that's what I thought, iv only ever been able to find one possibility which was a Henry james costins 1861 Newport, but the parents are listed as Elizabeth bevington and Henry Costins I managed to trace Elizabeth to South hamlet of Gloucester but there was no sign of Henrys exsistance what so ever.
