I wonder if Walter Lang owned the factory where great-great grandmother Mary Jane Lavery worked? 160 acres was quite a spread in Dumbarton in the 1880s, no? Plus the fact that Lang was already 56yo by then and she was 25yo.

The mother was Margaret Lavery (Armstrong) born in 1811 in Ireland. The sisters were Mary Jane (25), Elisabeth (23), Alice (21), Catherine (19), and Ann (16). They had two young uns living with them: Catherine Dowd (10), a border who was born in Edinburgh, and Catherine Lavery 8 who was probably one of the older women's illegitimate daughter.

I wonder if they are kin to my great-great-great grandfather Alexander Duncan/Julia Nimmo of Linlithgow, married in 1806? Or great-great grandfather George Duncan (born in 1820), master butcher of Dumbarton married to Mary McLaren of Glasgow?
