There are public trees on Ancestry that give the marriage details: "21 January 1845, Parish Church (Cathedral), Sheffield. " His father Thomas Gray. Her father John Bullos.

is there any information on ellen's father, john?
When and where he was born etc?

Family History Beginners Board / Charles W Gray- Sheffield. Parents?
« on: Friday 16 August 19 15:13 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Looking for the parents of a charles W Gray born in sheffield in 1823. He married a ellen bullos (Don't know her parents either) She was born 1826 in sheffield. They married 1845 in sheffield.
In 1871 census, charles and ellen are living in sheffield and there's a darcie gray and it says she's the mother to the head of the house. I don't know her maiden name. His father isn't there, so i presume he's deceased at this point.

Thankyou! :)

Rather conveniently,Edward and Elizabeth James are with the Battersbys in 1841! ref.HO107/1335/1/31/20

Roger

Im asking a big favour here, could you just double check where edward james was born please. It says on the census that he was born in staffordshire, and i also found a baptism for him in staffordshire. Just want to make sure.

Thanks.

The James family and the married couple are togetrher in the 1861 census RG09/3473/122/27.
Looking at GRO records for births of the James children,I would favour a marriage of Edward James to Elizabeth Battersby 1840 Sheffield.

Regards
Roger

I think you're right roger, thank you! i've just found the 1861 census and elizabeth permberton (james) and her husband thomas pemberton are living with what looks like, her parents.. edward james and elizabeth james who's maiden name happens to to battersby!

There is a marriage between Elizabeth James aged 19 and Thomas Pemberton aged 21 which took place at Christ Church, Heeley on 25 March 1861. Thomas was a Knife Spring Maker as was his father John Pemberton. Elizabeth's father was Edward James a Silver Stamper. Witnesses John Burgoyne and Emma Beckett.

Oh great, does it not say anything about elizabeth's mother?

Sorry i don't know the exact venue of their wedding.
Only know it was sheffield.
Not entirely sure who thomas pemberton's father is either.

It was Ecclesall Bierlow district.
Try again when you have the marriage certificate.
 https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2DW4-973 will give the references

I found a family tree on family search.
I found elizabeth james and it said her parents were edward james born 1819 sheffield and elizabeth roberts born 1820 in hickman county, tennessee, but i don't know if that's correct.
