I'm sure she would have loved that, but never mentioned it, I think it
more likely that she was at home with her "charge" while the parents
were on a cruise. She did mention employing her sister as cook at a
house in London where she was Nanny, as the cook had left while the
family were abroad! The pieces are fitting together!!!!

Seoras ...Thanks very much for that, yes I can see why they changed the ships name  ::)
I think it may have been a med cruise, assuming this is the Lochhead family they seem to
be quite "well to do"! I also have a photo of a bullfight which could be one of theirs, as I
can't see any other photos which it fits with, and it's the same size and format!

School and college outfitters.

45 Talbot Road, BLACKPOOL, FY1 1LL

My old college scarf was from them...  Still wear it !

Thanks for that :-) Their daughter Shirley, who Mum looked after was a proper little "Shirley Temple" I've lots of photos of her, a really beautiful little girl!

1930's looks right to me.

Just straightened, hope OK  :)

(Seems very small...The size is 6mm x 8.5mm , are we talking cm?) Oh dear I lost the plot there  ::)

Thank you Seoras  :) I know my Mum was a Nanny in Blackpool in 1936 for Shirley Rawcliffe,
the family still have a department store there I believe. She also worked as a Nanny in Yorkshire,
for the jockey Billy Nevitt, and I know she went to London in 1934 after her father was killed in an
accident at the steelworks. So that all narrows it down. The lady in the centre of the photo has a
very distinctive hairstyle and stripey top, she looks very fashionable!

How very sad, that's such a great loss :-( but thank you, that narrows it down to pre 1940 at least.

Just found a site dedicated to the memory of the Lancastria, very moving,
lists of names of those who perished, but, not a complete list, and may
have been as many as 6,000, of course very many were never recovered.

I found this photo with others, amongst my late Mothers belongings,
I think the people in it may be part of the Lochhead family, originally
from Paisley, Scotland, and she may have been a Nanny for them
when they lived in a house called "Strathbeg" in London in the mid
1930's. I would very much like it dating please? The back is plain,
just with a pencilled number 290 on it. The size is 6mm x 8.5mm and it
is black and white rather than sepia, which some of the others are, and
it's a smooth gloss finish on thin card.
