Hi

My great grandmother was Margaret Ellwood (m. to George Suddick). Margaret was John Ellwoods grand daughter and Matthews daughter.

Matthew is shown on the 1841 census living with his parents John and Margaret.

The info I have suggests John Ellwood's parents were Michael Ellwood and Mary Atkinson however this is mainly from work done by others on ancestry.co.uk so I don't have documentary proof.

Thanks

I'll have to ask him for more details - it would be easier if I has the source documents.

I have a suspicion that the Stephenson's there are related.

Iam actually doing some searching for a friend of mine as a favour - Ive found quite a bit down the other family lines but this one has been a pig from the start  :)

Thomas' name came from another of his relatives who has already done some basic research so I ve not seen the evidence she has. I'll have to have a word with him and see what evidence he has.

Both are born in south shields around 1809 - Thomas is dead by the 1861 census.

I'm looking for Alice/Thomas Stephenson from south shields - I can find her after 1861 but neither of them (or their kids) on the 1851 and 1841 census forms.

Alice was married to Thomas Stephenson (date unknown but around 1835-1838 I believe)

They had at least 3 children , William abt 1838 and Alice & Ann abt 1843.

They should be in south shields area during this time as they lived there before and after 1841-1851. Thomas is believed to have been a sailor.

hi,

It was the date of marriage I was most interested in as I cannot find the page in the transcripts on familysearch.

I like his wifes name before she was married. Isabella Smurfit Hunter, that was posh. They were married on 5th August 1839 in Sunderland.

Could you give me a link to that source please
