Thanks for all the suggestions, at the moment I do not think that we have found the correct family as yet.

I'll just have to keep searching.

Thanks for all the suggestions, at the moment I do not think that we have found the right family.

The 1881 census is the only one that records her as having been born in Rotherhithe, the 1851,61,71 & 91 all say Bermondsey, they all give a birth date of 1820/21. She died 25 December 1896 and is shown as being 77 years old, which could therefore mean that she was born in 1819, the death was registered by her daughter. On the maariage certificate, her address seems to say 12 Bank Side, (two seperate words) but the first word is a little unclear.  As well as a Susanna Cole the second witness to the wedding was a George Williams.

Once again many thanks for all the suggestions.

Hi Jane

No I have not been able to find her in 1841, I have in fact been looking this afternoon and had no luck.

I tried for her father and also for a Susanna Cole who appears as a witness on her marriage, but again no luck.

I'm sorry I posted this previously on the wrong board.

I wonder if there is anyone out there who can help me please?

I'm trying to find out more about my great grandmoth MARY ANN COLE she married a JOSEPH FIELD on 15 July 1843 at Newington, her father is shown as BENJAMIN COLE a Fireman.

According to census returns she was born in 1821 in Bermondsey although one return shows Rotherhithe.

Is there anyone with access to the baptisms for these areas please?

Essex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Charles CARRINGTON WILSON

Thanks for that, I think that some how or other I've got to try and prove which Carrington is which. But since there were certainly more than two it may be an impossible task. The wills I have mention at least one but have so far provided no clues as to the one who is my ancestor.

I feel almost certain that he is actually the brother of Barnabas Wilson/Gentry who is mentioned in John Wilson's will dated 1813, but have no proof, as yet!!

I've just checked the Great Bromley census for 1851 and the Carrington there was born in Ipswich, so I think that the only likely one is the Charles/Carrington who died in 1867.

Thanks for the suggestions, another of CARRINGTON's descendants has a copy of the St Osyth parish records and has as yet been unable to find his baptism, although at that time we were looking for Carrington & not Charles.

What I had not come across was the death in 1851 of another Carrington, and that is a possibility as it takes us back to the area around Kirby le Soken, which fits in with what I do know.

In case any one is interested I'm descended from Ann Lord, her mother was Martha Lord, and according to the bastardly report the father was Carrington Wilson, late of Kirby, a seedsman. When I found this I thought that with such an unusual name it would be easy, little did I know what a can of worms it would unearth. From a few Wilson wills I have discovered that there were numerous illegitimate children, as well as name changes. For instance a gentleman who seems to have a close link with Ann & Martha Lord, was Barnabas Wilson, but from a will I've discovered his name was originally Barnabas Gentry.

Any comments would be most welcome.

I'm still trying to find out who CARRINGTON WILSON really is. It would seem that he died 20 Feb 1867 at Langham, Essex. His death seems to registered as CHARLES CARRINGTON WILSON, but his obituary is as CARRINGTON WILSON.

In the 1861 census he seems to appear as CARRINGTON WILSON, and have been born in St Osyth, Essex.

Is there anyone out there who has come across this person, and who knows where he was born, and who his parents were.

I would be grateful for any information.
